As the Dust Settles...

As time moves on and the buzz of activity following Laris' end at Drake's Lake, the Weyr slowly begins to settle into a more routine way of life. News keeps filtering in, feeding the gossip over the night fires. Chief among the gossip is the word that the Amesyth in the Pine Camp has been converted as a temporary holding camp for all the holdless, which has cause many to grumble over having "those type of folks" so close. But the command was given: no weyrfolk are to venture close or harass and likewise no holdless are permitted to enter the Weyr with exception to those sick or injured. Even then they remain under Guard, as does the camp. Time will tell what will be done, but it is obvious that this is only a temporary means to a much larger (and difficult) problem.

Word was confirmed as well that D'ani was in fact injured, and badly so, by an arrow wound to the shoulder but is expected to recover. More injuries filtered in too, most being bumps and scrapes, bad cuts, sprains or broken bones among the Guard and Wingriders. It was discovered that the Weyrleader escaped with only heavy bruising to his ribs and sides and a close call with drowning and that Kimmila had succumbed to a brief but severe fever as a result of Between-chill from wet clothes. All have recovered and yet… Th'ero does not seem to be seen as often. He will appear for meetings and briefly mingle among the weyrfolk or Wingriders but then vanishes for the rest of the day. Could be that he is simply swamped with the work and decisions now plaguing the Weyrleadership and Staff, but there is murmur of another sort starting to pick up. Something about vacations…
