~~*~~ Fort Weyr - Northeast Bowl ~~*~~ (#10535RJ$)

The northern end of the bowl can be an intimidating area, being that Fort is the largest weyr. The far north

wall contains the gigantic opening to the hatching caverns, and to the west of that can be seen the sprawling ledges

and carved stair cases that mark the way to the administration complex and the training grounds were candidates and

weyrlings can often be found. The west cliff wall towers up, dotted here and there by darker openings that mark

individual weyrs before it tapers to a point at Tooth Crag.

Jaylen walks into the northern end of the bowl from the training complex, she's looking over a scrap of paper in her

hands, and she seems to be concentrating on that scrap more than on where she's walking.

Suddenly a large shadow blocks out Jaylen light as the form of a rather large monsterous looknig brown looms over

her. The Brown looking down curiously at her, the white of it teeth showing in what looks to be a large grin.

Jaylen lets out a squeak as she finds the large shadow above her, then she cranes her neck upwards to peek at the

brown beastie. Nice teeth. "S'rry. 'scuse me sir." She speaks before it dohs on her who this big brown is.

"Rhyrith?" Blink blink.

Rhyrith warbles and lowers his head to whuffle at the top of Jaylens head.

From the central bowl, K'drozen come walking slowly carrying a messangers satchel, on spying Rhy acosting someone

but not able to see whom he calls out, "Rhy No that is not nice!"

Jaylen giggles at the whuffling and offers the brown a scritch. Then she hears the voice and a smile spreads over

her face. "Kal! You're here!"

K'drozen smiles brightly as he hears the voice and quickens his pace, "Yeah, I am on messanger duty with one of the

weyrling masters today. I think he is getting a drink or something before heading back so I ahve a couple of

candlemarks down time."

Jaylen moves to meet him beside Rhyrith and gives the weyrling a hug. "Well, lucky me, then." She grins. "I was just

headed inside, care to join me?" She tucks her bit of paper into one of her many pockets.

K'drozen smiles and says, "Sure. Lead the way, I am not really sure of my way around over here." as he return the

hug.

Jaylen giggles, "Well, back th'way y'came from's a start." She gives Rhyrith a pat and grins. "Kin I b'rrow yer

r'der fer a bit?"

Rhyrith warbles cheerful and curls up for a short nap.

Jaylen takes the Istan weyrling by the hand and leads the way back through the bowl towards the living caverns.

The wide center of the bowl is often bustling with activity as riders come and go. Off westward can be seen the

entrances for the candidate barracks and the guest weyr, while to the east is a large opening that leads into the

dragon infirmary. The bowl stretches off both to the north and to the south, where the sheer stone walls rise

steeply to the sky.

~~*~~ Fort Weyr - Living Caverns ~~*~~ (#10592RJ$)

This cavern, having been created by bubbles in the volcanic flow of this extinct volcano, has a breathtaking

ceiling — a vast dome that arches high above the heads of the weyrfolk that scurry around beneath it. A hollow echo

can be heard from loud enough noises, and the chatterings of various firelizards are consequently multiplied into a

chaotic babble. All in all, the living cavern is a loud place.
Tables are scattered around the room, apparently in no particular order. Over to one side near the kitchens,

two medium sized serving tables are constantly spread with snacks, klah, and other goodies. The tables look worn,

yet perfectly fitted to the atmosphere of the caverns. In the 'corners' of the cavern, smaller two and four place

tables are set up for more private talks or just a less chaotic atmosphere in which to eat.

the hearth, "It really is cold here."

Jaylen pours a second mug, "How d'y'like yer klah?" She asks, nodding to the cold bit. "Aye, real cold, but I think

I've actually got used t'it lil. Hey, are ya any good with findin' stuff?"

K'drozen says, "Straight is fine, sorta go use to drinking it plain." he tilts his head, "I am ok at it I guess

Jaylen brings the two mugs of klah back to the table, she offers one to him. "Cause we got this real weird note in

K'drozen nods and leans over to look at the clues, "Id be more then happy to help if its allowed." he smiles, "I am

not sure how much help I would be though I don't know my way around here."

Jaylen shows him the three clues. "Well, I think I might know th'l'cation o'this one, an' maybe this one, at least

th'general idea anyway. But I need an extra set o'eyes t'see iff'n we kin find th'token, there're no hints as to

K'drozen looks at the clues and nods thinking to himself, "It shouldn't be to hard really."

Jaylen nods, "All I have to do is find th'token an' write m'name on it. I think this one 'ere is in th'tunnels,

wanna go check it out with me?" After they finish their klah, of course.

K'drozen takes a long drink of the klah and says, "Sure." he smiles, "I was imressed with what you showed me of the

tunnels on my last visit."

Jaylen grins, "I been explorin' them a lot. They lead all th'way t'th'forest." Yes, well, you know Jaylen, she has

to find all the nice hidey holes wherever she is.

K'drozen smiles and says, "Alright, you said you had an idea, lets get looking then."

Jaylen nods, finishing her klah quickly. "Well, it's kinda chilly an' damp down there, but I think I kin r'member

th'way." She slides her coat back on, though she leaves it unzipped for now, then she shoves the bit of paper into a

pocket. Offering a hand to K'drozen, "Shall we?"

K'drozen takes her hand without any hesitation and smile snaging his coat with the other following along beside her.

~~*~~ Fort Weyr - Lower Caverns ~~*~~

This volcanic bubble is smaller than the Living Cavern, but no less well crafted. The walls are smooth, with

electric lights placed into niches that used to hold glowbaskets. Another hearth burns here, with a pot on always

keeping water hot for making tea or cider. Worn but comfortable couches and chairs are arranged by the hearth around

a few tables where game boards and a few packages of dragon poker cards are laying.
From this cavern you can get to many other places - the tunnels of Fort Weyr having been dug far back into the

caldera where the Dragons make their home.

~~*~~ Fort Weyr - Deeper Into The Weyr ~~*~~

The smell of fresh cut lumber comes from this tunnel, as the stone has been secured by fresh cut beam supports to

help take the load of the rock due to historic tunnel collapses. The tunnel is illuminated by strings of glow

baskets, and the odd electric bulb. Not previously known to have been used, this tunnel was once quiet and eerie,

but now with the light scattering the shadows, it seems a pleasant stroll - a bit cool though, as one seems to walk

at a slope downward, as if going deeper into the Weyr. Smaller tunnels branch to the left and right, leading

elsewhere, yet these tunnels don't seem so well lit and it would be wise to bring personal lighting with one's

person. These are the depths of the Weyr, once closed off and forgotten - now thriving again. A sign hangs on either

side of the tunnel entrance, with bright arrows pointing straight ahead, to the rebuilt tunnel. The sign reads:

Commonplace.

~~*~~ Fort Weyr - Ancient Tunnel ~~*~~

This tunnel twists and turns, interspersed with columns created when stalagmite met stalactite. The columns consist

of compressed layers of interspersed white, brown, and blue, much like the many layers of a candle melted down. Line

of sight is broken, and most of the tunnel is hidden in deep shadow that writhes no matter what light source is

used. Small paths scatter about, branching out into forks in the road, where darkness roams and direction can be

quickly turned about. The use of caution must not be taken for granted. Behind, toward the west is the exit - ahead

is a maze of shadows and rock, where dangers may lurk and the promise of return may be slim.

K'drozen nods and looks at the note and says, "yeah I would say this could be the path of old." he glances about and

says, "Is there runnig water of some kind down this way." he glance down towards the east.

Jaylen thinks a moment, "Yeah, I th'nk there's a stream down 'ere somewhere."

K'drozen nod and says, "Alright then, lets check it out."

Jaylen tucks the note away again. "Well, let's go, then." She grins and tugs him eastwards.

The section of the tunnel appears like any other, with rough worn rock surrounding from all directions. Besides a

cold draft which makes the odd noise as it groans through the vast tunnel system, the air is silent and dead. There

is no trace of any life in the long vast corridors of rock. There is only slight indication that people once walked

these tunnels or lived in and around them - such as an old glow basket forgotten as it sits tucked away in a

crevasse of a wall or a torch mount still secured into the walls. Further useless rubble like this strewn here and

there, as if people eventually stopped cleaning up the vast walkways and mindlessly left items here and there. In

The sound of dripping echoes emptily in this cave, and the air is dank with the scent of stagnant water. Stalactites

and stalagmites mirror each other perfectly, framing a pool of water that at first glance seems to be a chasm

descending to the depths of the earth - though it looks like something might be on the other side of the rock wall

which it disappears into. Small clusters of glows here and there provide the only illumination, bathing everything

in a cold light but otherwise merely deepening the shadows elsewhere, causing a slightly eerie feel. The ground is

K'drozen begins to search around the cavern looking closely at the water as he does so. "What do the note say about

the water again?"

Jaylen contemplates, "The water shall be your guide to where I rest.." She starts to rifle through a sall pile of

rocks near the pool of water.

K'drozen looks at the water and says, "Well, where does this water flow to."

Jaylen peers at the water, trying to judge if it's flowing and if so, where. "Hey look, doesn't it look like there's

'nother room on th'other side of th'wall 'ere?" But there are no more tunnels, hmm. "Do y'think?"

K'drozen looks at the pool and says, "Well maybe ya have to swim to find it, I wouldn't hink they'd want ya in the

Jaylen considers this a moment. "But I dunna see 'nother way in there.." She searches the wall near the water, maybe

there's a hidden switch or something. "Maybe if we leave our clothes 'ere..then they won't be all wet when we get

out of th'water." Is she seriously considering getting into the cold water?

K'drozen frowns and says, "I am not sure this is a great idea…" he kneels down and places a hand in the water.

Well, at least the water's not icy, it's not warm though. Jaylen doesn't have any luck searching the wall. "Maybe I

kin send Algae in t'r'trive it, she likes th'cold."

K'drozen nods and says, "Might be a better idea, don't want ya getting sick with the hatchin comin up." he glances

to you and smiles, vacilating on weather he thinks this is a good idea or not.

Algae takes flight from your shoulder.

K'drozen shrugs as Castle takes flight from his shoulder.

Jaylen calls for her little green, who appears and croons softly, curiously. "Algae, go see iff'n y'kind find

somethin' that looks like a t'ken." Jaylen says to her green, trying to send a visual of what she thinks the token

The actual entrance to this cavern is a tunnel, with the sides blocking off views of everything but what is

in front. Light apparently was provided by glow baskets that have long since vanished from the nooks created for

them. The tunnel doesn't lead far, but when the bulging sides give way, the sight is awesome. The cavern widens to

all sides, the walls left natural, not at all smooth or even. The sound of dripping water creates an echo off the

walls of the cavern, as small streams of water have eaten away at the rock over thousands of Turns. The streams are

more common around this room than the ground proper, where dry areas begin to take on a stepping stone appearance.
The overwhelming wonder of this cavern is further created by the rock in which the walls were formed, for

they sparkle and shine when illuminated due to the mineral deposits within the stone. The ceiling is also adorned

with stalactites, which are numerous and large. At the east side, where there seems to be a dead end, is a vast pool

with water that appears black for the unknown depth truly there within. Yet, the water is actually flowing toward

the pool and seemingly underneath rock that hangs inches above the water.

K'drozen moves rapidsly and immidaiate to the edge of the water and extends his hand, "Grab on Jaylen…"

Jaylen is a good swimmer, at least. She starts to laugh, yes, the girl is laughing as she treads the very cold

K'drozen nods and says, "you be careful." he looks at the water and says, "I sould probaly wait her…" having to

head between shortly and getting wet probably a bad idea…

Unless he strips down first, then he'll just have to dry his hair before returning. Jaylen nods, swimming under the

wall, and disappears into the glimmering cavern. "Oh, Kal, it's so beautiful in 'ere." Comes the girl's voice from

inside.

Algae> Algae likes the shinies, too bad she can't take them with her. What was she supposed to do now? Oh yeah! The
