Fort Weyr - North Bowl
The northern end of the bowl can be an intimidating area, being that Fort is the largest weyr. The far north wall contains the gigantic opening to the hatching caverns, and to the west of that can be seen the sprawling ledges and carved stair cases that mark the way to the weyrleader's complex and junior queens ledges. The west cliff wall towers up, dotted here and there by darker openings that mark individual weyrs before it tapers to a point at Tooth Crag. At ground level on the western wall is the opening to the weyrling barracks, occasional glimpses can be caught of newly paired mates. On the eastern wall of the bowl is the entrance into the living cavern, the heart of the weyr.
A'mar enters the bowl from the south, carrying a large basket. He is being watched over by a green firelizard, Jasmine, and followed by a blue dragon, Caldoth. "Yeah, Cal, they do love that lake." he agrees, as he heads towards the living caverns. Jasmine starts chittering and diving at him all of a sudden though, and he has to stop. "What is it?" he asks, setting the basket down so that he won't drop it.
A tiny, brightly colored Green dragon touches down nearby, settling down for long enough for a boy to dismount. The disheveled lad looks much out of his element, hair blown every which way, clothes wrinkled. He grins a bit to the rider, offering the woman a quick hug before unbuckling himself. "Thanks, aunt Rekki. Of course I'll bring you something to eat! Okay, I'll meet you back here when I'm finished…" He slides down, and the green takes off, soaring off towards the rim of the 'bowl. Left on his own, Eravien sets off, hands stuffed down in his pocket, smiling brightly and humming to himself. He pauses to wave cheerily towards A'mar, smiling. "Hello!"
While for several residents to Fort, walking to and from the north bowl is no problem or just routine. But for one girl, roughly fourteen turns of age, it's something entirely different and somewhat confusing. Not that she isn't Weyrbred, but from her knot, its clear she's from Igen and an Apprentice Vinter to top it all off. Most likely accompaning whomever she's tagged to on another Craft related voyage across Pern for however brief her visit to Fort may be. The sound of chittering to her one side draws Ukaryn's attention to A'mar and the fussing green Jasmine. Cocking her head a little to the side, she approaches hesitantly at first, not exactly certain as to what has caused the green firelizard to be upset. "Is…everything okay?" she eventually ventures to ask the bluerider.
Jasmine stops attacking A'mar as soon as he sets the basket down, instead swooping in to guard it, and the eggs within. A'mar tilts his head at the firelizard, then frowns. He leans over the basket, then blinks. "Oh! Now?" he exclaims, then frowns. He's standing there, considering what to do with the basket of eggs now, when he hears a 'hello' from Eravien, and the young rider turns to wave in reply, with a smile. "Welcome to Fort." he calls, then spins back at the question from Ukaryn, "Okay? Well, that depends. I think these eggs here are hatching, and I've already got two firelizards." he laughs slightly anxiously.
Eravien blinks curiously towards the young bluerider, smiling lopsidedly. "Look like you're — oh?" Offering a smile and a little wave towards Ukaryn, the young man peers between the two, and then the basket. "Thank you!" Is offered after a moment, and he winces. "That sounds like a bit of a sticky situation." Nodding absently, the boy frowns. "Ah..want me to go grab a few scraps of meat?" The question is posed towards both A'mar and Ukayrn, as he tilts his head. "I've heard that the little creatures are…useful?"
Ukaryn relaxes a little when A'mar explains the situation, a light smile tugging at the one corner of her mouth. "Oh. I see." she says at first, before quickly adding in, "Surely there are enough folk here who would be able to Impress to one? Or is it more complicated then that?" She's quiet then, or at least long enough for her to notice Eravien's little wave. She returns it, with a bit of a crooked smile as she glances over to him. "They can be. My mother had her gold and blue fairly well trained, although her brown remained stubborn and still is." Then its a glance back to the basket and then up to A'mar. "Do you need any help? Maybe move them inside or can they be moved now?" she asks, perhaps a little too boldly.
Vista settles a short distance away, peering at the goings on.
A'mar grins at Eravien. "Useful, sure. If you train them right. Caldoth is actually quite fond of them, he calls them his little cousins." a pause, and then he explains: "If Caldoth thinks someone is family, that means he really likes them. Family is very important to him." he says, with a nod. "They do seem to eat quite a bit, though." he shrugs, then nods to Ukaryn, "Well, sure, anyone can impress one, you just have to be in the right place at the right time." he pauses, then grins, and adds, "With food." As for help, he considers it. "Hmm, I think we'll need food. Well, you'll need food." he says, then nods, "Um, yeah. Living caverns are just over there, grab anything and come right back." As if to demonstrate the urgency, the Rounds Egg begins to wobble.
Eravien grins towards Ukaryn, chuckling a bit. "Ah, stubborness can be…interesting, at least." Winking cheerily, he smiles towards A'mar. "Aw, little cousins. That sounds proper. Family means alot to him?" The boy beams. "He's got sense, eh?" Pausing to listen to the rest of what A'mar says, Erav grins. "Food…Ha, one of my friends at Island River…his little green could eat almost as much as I do. It was amazing." Eyes wide, shaking his head wonderingly, Eravien bounces in place. "Sure, I'll go grab something for 'em…" And then he's off, trotting in the direction of where the bluerider had pointed, humming happily to himself once more.
Ukaryn grins as well to Eravien, "It can be. But not so much in a firelizard." She blinks a bit before frowning slightly, puzzled. "Really? Caldoth is right though. Family is important, in a way." She then nods her head to A'mar, only then to look even more confused, maybe even lost. "I'll need food? Oh — " And she glances, vaguely, towards the living caverns. "That way?" she says, pointing now and beginning to side step in an odd shuffling manner before fully turning and hurrying off, not too far behind Eravien. When she returns, she's carrying a good sized bowl full of meat scraps, smirking a little. "/That/ was harder then I thought." she notes, somewhat mildly frustrated. "Sorry." she says a little more lightly afterwards. "How are they — the eggs I mean." Glance once again looks to A'mar.
A'mar grins at Eravien, "Jasmine here can eat almost as much as me." Well, he's a growing boy, with a dragon to keep up with. "Rex eats quite a bit more, though." he says, then adds, "Rex is my blue firelizard. He's still growing too." he turns to Ukaryn, then grins. "Caldoth is rather unique." he says, with pride. "I still don't get on well with my older brother, but Cal fills the role nicely." he nods, grinning at the blue dragon. "Plus, Caldoth actually shares my interest in pottery." and the boy shows his clay-muddied hands, proudly. "I'm an apprentice." Meanwhile, the Rounds Egg has rolled out of the basket, and the Round and Round Egg is beginning to rock back and forth.
Arriving back on-scene with a scant bowlful of meat scraps, Eravien shakes his head. "You've got that right…shells, they acted as if these were prime cuts of herdbeast." The boy offers, rolling his eyes with good humor. "Walking, flying stomachs," He murmurs after a moment, laughing softly. "He sounds it..aw, you don't? That's a shame. I miss my siblings…" Smiling, a bit lopsidedly, he nods. "Pottery? Wow, that sounds fun. the best *I've* ever gotten with pottery is a silly lopsided bowl, once. Never fired it…" The boy shares, laughing cheerily, and eyeing the eggs almost warily.
Ukaryn shifts the bowl so that it rests up against her stomach, both her arms extended out almost straight and in front of her. She gives a bit of a smirk towards Eravien, "I know! Ugh and I thought the cooks at Igen were fussy enough!" She then chuckles a little, shaking her head. "At least we got plenty to go around." And she tilts her bowl just a little for emphasis. The young apprentice's head then tilts again as she listens to A'mar, eventually smiling again. "Even if you don't get along with your brother, I think you're lucky. I hardly see mine. Well…he's my half-brother. Different father…" she shrugs lightly. "Pottery?" she echos shortly after Eravien. "I agree, it does sound fun. I'm an apprentice vinter, myself." Her attention, however, has now gone back to the eggs and the two who have noticibly begun moving. When one rolls out of the basket, she reacts only by uttering a bit of a surprised. "Oh!"
A'mar shrugs at the comments on his brother. "Well, he's a bully. And a brat. And a pain. He never got over the fact that I was searched, and he wasn't, either." he giggles, then glances to the Round and Round Egg and Rounds Egg, both of which are rocking quite wildly now. "So, um, you know what to do? It's really easy, you just offer food to the hatchlings, real simple. If they take it, congratulations, because you've just impressed." he grins.
Eravien wrinkles his nose slightly towards A'mar, snorting. "Aaah, gotcha. Ah well, he'll just have to get over it, won't he?" Winking playfully, Erav grins towards Ukayrn. "Indeed," Putting a huff of indignance on the last sylable, he smiles. "Aw, I can't imagine having lots of siblings…" Smiling lopsidedly, eyebrows creasing, the boy peers over at A'mar. Nodding silently, he squints. "That's it? Doesn't sound so hard." Still nodding, he eyes the meatscraps warily. Plucking one up, waggling the limp, still-bloody meatbit idly, he grins. "Nice."
Rounds Egg starts to flake away, the white parts falling to the side first, almost like discarding an item of clothing. At first, the firelizard within seems to be curled up, sleeping. Slowly, however, the hatchling unwinds, then limps out into freedom as the House and Home Blue Hatchling.
House and Home Blue Hatchling
---
Home is where the House is… This mid-sized blue firelizard has a very solid build, almost squarish. His hide is roughly textured, no matter how often it is oiled, particularly around his chin. Much of this blue's colouring is actually quite light, however his wings and tail are actually quite a bit darker, fading from almost white on his muzzle to almost black on his wing and tail tips. This blue firelizard seems to limp slightly, although he doesn't let that slow him down.
A'mar grins, and nods. "He's so not the riding type, anyway." he says, with a laugh. "Still, we got him back. Me an' my sister. I got a bucket of the water I use to wash my hands in while doing pottery, really muddy water, and she splashed him with it, right in the pants, in front of his friends." he laughs, then blinks. "Oh, look, they're hatching." he says, pointing at the ruins of the Rounds Egg, where the House and Home Blue Hatchling is now standing.
Ukaryn wrinkles her nose a little. "Oh. In that case, the way you put it, maybe having siblings isn't all too great. Not everytime." she replies to A'mar. Then she shakes her head a bit, looking over to Eravien. "No, it doesn't, does it?" Then the commotion of one egg seeming to flake apart catches her attention again. "Ooh, looks like we're about to find out just how hard or easy it is…" she says, adjusting her grip and the position of the bowl so that she can extend one long, gooey piece of meat in offering to the little, newly hatched, blue. She wriggles it a little. "Like this?" she murmurs, side glancing briefly to A'mar.
Round and Round Egg begins to spin and turn, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, round and round and round it goes! The egg falls over, cracking on impact. Somewhat unsteadily, a firelizard begins to emerge on unsteady legs. Then, it trips, and gets sent flying out of the debris, where it can be seen: the All Fall Down Blue Hatchling.
All Fall Down Blue Hatchling
---
A-tishoo, a-tishoo, we all fall down! This firelizard is a near uniform vibrant shade of the purest sky blue. Exceptions to this are the rings of red rose-like splotches about his neck, much like a necklace, and odd markings around the firelizard's hips that look almost like posies. This mid-sized blue seems to move with enthusiasm, like a child at play, but with little coordination.
Invited on a trip from C'ale, green Keelath's rider, to a venture to speak with a craftsman in Fort, Xanadu's older candidate was more than eager to agree. Face it, Dynome misses her northern weather. So, while C'ale is occupied, she begins a brief round of outdoor exploring, not having been to Fort in some time and keen to see what all has changed.
Eravien laughs merrily towards A'mar, grinning wickedly. "That sounds like /fun/." He says with a grin, about to reply once more when suddenly there are two little hatchlings sitting in the shards of their eggs. The boys' eyes go to Ukaryn and he watches her closely for a moment, before offering that previously-waggled scrap of meat towards the second Blue, wiggling the meat in what he hopes is an enticing fashion. His eyes go between the way Ukaryn is handling hers and his own, nose wrinkled a bit. "I imagine we must look a little bit rediculous…heey, little fella'."
Vista churrs briefly, encouraging the eggs just a little.
A'mar watches Ukaryn and Eravien, grinning. "That's it, just keep offering them food." he says, taking a step back cautiously, just in case one of them should think this foodless boy more interesting. Although, it's unlikely. "Hello," he calls, as he spots Dynome and C'ale arriving, waving them over. The Singing in Rounds Egg begins to rock now, rhythmically.
"I bet we do." comes Ukaryn's reply to Eravien's comment, followed by a soft laugh and a lopsided grin. Meat wiggled again in offering, she eventually bends down on one knee, awkwardly balancing herself and the bowl of meat in the process. It would be easier if she'd put the bowl down, but that doesn't seem to cross her mind. "Oh, look! Another hatched and its a blue too!" she notes, meat still being wiggled and jiggled a little towards the first blue to have hatched.
Following after Dynome, the Green rider lets out a soft breath, running his hands back through his shaggy brown hair. He tugs his goggles off his eyes, and places them around his neck, letting them dangle. He seems fatigued, and his eyes are blood shot.
Dynome spies the wave and with a bit of a perk and an 'oh, me?' expression, the slightly heavier woman makes her way over to the small group crowded over, hm, what is that? "Oh! Eggs?" She voices, leaning in with eager, excited eyes as she reaches them. "Ooooh, such cute little things! May I? Who's are they?"
House and Home Blue Hatchling limps forward towards Ukaryn, sniffing carefully at her offering of meat. He tilts his little head, and glances up at her, curiously. His little mind sees to be hard at work, as he evaluates his options. Meat, or hunger? Well, not much of a choice, is it? He moves forward, and chomps at Ukaryn's meat.
Eravien waves to those arriving, smiling brightly. He continues to wave that meat, though, looking vaguely confused, but holding it together all the same. "Oh!" He grins as the first hatchling moves towards Ukaryn, tilting his head curiously to the side. "Wow!" Very nearly bouncing in place, the boy grins. "I guess that means he's yours? Congratulations!"
A'mar frowns at C'ale. "Are you alright, sir?" he asks the greenrider, noticing the bloodshot eyes. His attention is soon pulled though by the hatching and impressing eggs. "Oh, congratulations!" he says to Ukaryn, as the House and Home Blue Hatchling accepts her offering, with a smile. Meanwhile, there's still the All Fall Down Blue Hatchling, and the rocking Singing in Rounds Egg.
Ukaryn blinks as the blue, the first to hatch, suddenly becomes quite interested in her and her offered tidbit of meat. When it's finally devoured by the little blue, she grins, only then to notice somethings changed. "Oh…Oh now I see." she murmurs, finally setting the bowl aside so she can focus more on coaxing the hatchling to her arms. "He's lovely." comes her next comment, somewhat distracted as she reaches for more meat to feed the little blue. She does give Eravien a grin, though. "Yes, he is. And he's very hungry!" The young apprentice then glances up at Dynome, smiling. "Here, you can use some of the meat I brought out to lure any of the hatchings over, if you want." she offers, briefly motioning to the bowl not far from her side.
Dynome takes the meat with a very heartfelt and bubbly utterance of thanks to Ukaryn, holding to the bowl as though it were made of gold. Leave it to a healer to find joy in raw meat. A piece is taken out and prepared to dangle to any ravenous lizards as her eyes shift between those hatched, impressed, and yet to be born.
All Fall Down Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Eravien, still slightly dizzy from the spinning his egg did right before hatching. He lets himself be guided by the smell of meat, and finds the result to be quite delicious smelling. Mmm, meat. He manages to steady himself long enough to move towards Eravien.
Singing in Rounds Egg finally stops wobbling, and yawns, revealing only vague glimpses of the smallish, most likely blue, hatchling within. A kick comes from within, and the 'yawn' grows wider and wider, until the entire egg collapses, spilling forth the Musical Chairs Green Hatchling.
Musical Chairs Green Hatchling
---
This overly long green firelizard is unsurprisingly quite solidly built, one might even say chubby. Her wingspan is proportionate to her size, although her wings themselves do seem a touch wide. While most of this firelizard is sturdily built, her legs are oddly slender, seeming almost unable to support her weight. This green moves with energy and a strange almost clumsy kind of grace.
"Just tired, the usual." C'ale says with a yawn as he lets Dynome wander as he shifts his back pack over his shoulder, watching the hatchings occur. For anyone who has been paying attention to the Harpers, and their stories, would recognize him as the technology leader of Xanadu, who has discovered the new metal, Pernanium, and has been making quick head lines.
Looks like someone is totally unaware of the firelizard hatching taking place in the Bowl. Up from the traders' entrance, ahead of the rest of the train, a lanky jogging figure with a large red dog ambling at his heels approaches. On Vioterin's back is strapped a brimming pack, and pouches dangle from his belts. "Traders coming!" he calls a bit breathlessly. Not that the dragonriders wouldn't have noticed the caravan outside already, but it might be polite to announce them all the same. About this time, the blue firelizard that was dozing peacefully around his neck parts an eyelid, then both, cheeping in surprise before popping *between*. Vioterin seems puzzled, but shrugs and takes a look around the Bowl.
A'mar nods slightly. He may be more interested in getting his hands all muddy than in the news, but he's been hearing a lot about this Pernanium lately. "Ah, you've been busy, sir?" well, duh, obviously. As the eggs seem to be hatching and firelizards impressing all at once, A'mar has no idea where to look. At the call of traders, he glances that way, then waves. "Fort's greetings!" he responds, cheerfully.
"Oooh, are you a beautiful little lady?" Dynome croons to the newly hatched green. Odd, the two almost resemble each other. A bit wide, a bit disproportionate, but a bundle of energy. A large chunk of meat is offered out to her, the bit of flesh being wiggled in an enticing manner, trying to draw the attention of the green.
"Thank you." Ukaryn says in response to the congradulation, beaming down at the blue whom she now has, more or less, craddled in her arm. With the blue's hunger now satisfied, the Apprentice Vinter slowly stands back up and takes a bit of a step back herself from the hatching. She grins to Eravien. "Looks like it's a congradulations to you too." she says, before looking back to Dynome. "Good luck!" she offers her, before moving a little more towards A'mar and nodding to C'ale, giving him a bit of a longer look. "You were right about it being somewhat simple." she says towards A'mar.
Eravien looks, for a moment, as if he might pass out from all of the activity, eyes shifting from person to person. After a long period of solitude, it's all the boy can do not to cover his ears and twitch for a while. But then, his eyes turn slowly to the young blue sitting before him, and the boy offers a rather unmanly squeak, eyes wide. "Eep!" He laughs, then, offering more of the 'scraps to the hatchling. Gently gathering the tiny creature up, the young man beams. "Shells, oh — ow! Okay, I know." More of the meat dissapears down the hatchlings' throat, then, and Erav is caught up in feeding his new friend, almost not noticing the goings-on around him.
Musical Chairs Green Hatchling stretches, and then moves in a manner that can only be described as a combination of childlike running and dancing towards Dynome, the one who is an interesting match to herself. Such a large chunk of meat being offered, but that doesn't phase this green in the least, as she chomps down on it with gusto.
"Indeed I have, sir. Been real busy." As in getting a few hours of sleep, here or there. C'ale offers up a weary, quick smile to those who glance his way, though obviously he shuns away from any real attention. He isn't the celebrity type. His hands slowly fumble with a small, green metal 'coin' in his fingers, flipping it end, over end as he stares down at it.
"I offer my family's greetings in return, in my father's staid! Say," Vioterin calls, approaching the knot of people, "what's going on here?" Meanwhile his own blue has started in with the usual hatching encouragement hum, albeit remaining in a hover over the crowd. No sense getting too close to strangers, after all. Vio himself has yet to spot the shaking and crumbling shells. Meanwhile the large red canine bounds between his master and the trade caravan, as if unable to remain still.
Dynome can only hope she's lucky enough at the hatching of Xanadu's eggs than she is now, for she couldn't be more delighted with the green who gallops over to her and she feels the warm tickle of eyes meeting eyes. Soon enough, she's got the tiny creature in her arms and making sure she is not want for food. She'll be fat and happy before you can turn the music off. "Oh, such a little beauty. Anila, I'll call you. I bet Arani will be glad for the company."
Vista shifts his eyes to the canine, looking wary.
A'mar leans over the basket of eggs to take a look, as it seems to have been calm since the Musical Chairs Green Hatchling had hatched. There are now only three eggs left, all quite still for the moment. "Firelizards hatching." the boy calls to Vioterin, with a nod. "My green's first clutch, and another that I found on the lake shore." he nods. Finally, the Roundabout Egg begins to twitch, and A'mar straightens up and moves away. "If you've got any food, you might want to come over and give it a try." he suggests to Vioterin.
Vista gives a squeak and then disappears into *between*.
Ukaryn seems to have drifted off into her own thoughts for now, the commotion of the hatching and any new arrivals momentarily going unoted. She's focusing now on getting her new firelizard settled, now that the hatchling as decided to settle enough to sleep. Still beaming, she murmurs, "His shape reminds me of something…I just might name him it once I figure it out. So long as it's not something bad." Finally, she glances back up and not too long after Dynome as managed to impress the green that had hatched. "Congradulations!" she calls out.
"Zhi," Eravien murmurs the soft name, even as the little blue seems to flutter, swaying slightly, before apparently succumbing to exhaustion. Gently scritching the little critters' back, the boy beams happily. "Shells," He murmurs softly. "He's a handsome fellow, he is…" There's a pause as he moves to examine the goings-on around him, grinning still. "This is exciting."
Vioterin gives a slight nod. "If you insist, sir," he replies, with a half-grin, loosing a pouch full of dried meat. "This is the best I have—do you suppose it's good enough?" he asks. Just about then, the canine starts bounding over again, and Berry takes his place back on Vioterin's shoulder, giving a cheek-rub and a contented cheep before resuming his hum. "Rogue, go to Mother. Okay?" The dog tilts its head quizzically, then snorts and lopes off toward the caravan again.
Roundabout Egg topples over sideways, the small round green patch the first part to shatter in the crash. The egg splits almost neatly down the grey lines, leaving it in four pieces of roughly the same size. There, in the center of it all, is the Motorised Brown Hatchling.
Motorised Brown Hatchling
---
This large brown firelizard seems slightly shinier than most of his colour, almost as though he is made of some kind of metal. His wingsails are far more transparent than most firelizards, almost glass-like in their appearance. A slight silver tint colours this brown's hide, especially in the extremities, such as his wingtips and feet. He moves jerkily, as though controlled by some clumsy clockwork apparatus.
"I've some meat left I was given." Dynome offers, unable to help listening even while busy. She pushes the bowl away, not quite having paid attention to who spoke, but there it is. The she's rising, cradling the little green, Anila, who now thoroughly stuffed with a bulging belly, gives a mighty yawn before slumping into the healer's arms, uttering soft little squeaks that sounds suspiciously like hiccups. "Oh, rider C'ale! I'm sorry, I'm not holding you up, am I?" She asks, suddenly having remembered the rider she came here with who is standing there watching.
Another seems to join the assembled group, but in no interest in the hatching. Said person is in fact a Journeyman, come to collect a slightly wayward Apprentice. Blinking out of her distracted thoughts, Ukaryn mumbles an appology before hastily voicing her farewells. "Looks like I have to get going. It was nice meeting you all. Good luck with the rest of the hatching!" And just as quickly as she arrived, she's gone, following the Journeyman, little blue firelizard still napping in her arms.
A'mar smiles slightly as the brown hatches. "I wonder whether that was one of Jasmine's, or the other firelizard's?" he wonders aloud, shrugging slightly. "Certainly an interesting fellow."
Motorised Brown Hatchling moves forward slowly, leaving his wrecked shell behind as he searches for food.
Eravien winces as he spots a looming figure nearby, the tall figure of his aunt. She looks amused, hands on her hips, head tilted to the side. "Erav…" Shaking her head wonderingly, the woman rolls her eyes. Eravien stands, looking much like a canine with his tail between his legs as he waves. "I'll…I'll definitely be back to visit. Take care! I'll take care of this fellow, promise." Grinning fondly down at the Blue,he sets off towards the greenrider. The woman says nothing until they're well out of earshot, but she shakes her head wonderingly still, laughing at the boys' antics even as they mount up and the green bounces airborne.
Vioterin nods gratitude toward Dynome. "Thanks," he responds with a smile. "That's a lovely green," he adds, observing the stuffed ball of firelizard in her arms. Then he takes a handful of meat from the bowl, and another of the dried meat from his pouch. There's really no telling what the hatchling might prefer. "That's an interesting-looking brown indeed," Vioterin agrees with A'mar, equably. It's probably fortunate that Berry is too busy humming to try to snatch the food, himself, although one glowy eye seems fixed on the fresh meat that Vioterin just took from the bowl.
Though the greenrider insists Dynome isn't holding him up, she's quick to get going, offering a cheery thanks over her shoulder as she hurries off after C'ale.
Motorised Brown Hatchling lifts his head slowly, and sniffs the air. There's meat here, he knows it. He nibbles at the dried meat first, and then the other, finally settling on the second, although he'd eat the dried meat just as happily. Either way, he's still accepting meat from Vioterin.
"I'd forgotten how quick they were about the food," Vioterin remarks, luring the hatchling over and finally picking it up, getting his arms a bit scratched in the process. He strokes its wings smooth to its back as he continues filling its belly with meat. "Useful creatures, firelizards are." Meanwhile, Berry is still happily thrumming from Vioterin's shoulder. "Now to think of a name…"
