Living Caverns

Fort Weyr - Living Caverns
This cavern, having been created by bubbles in the volcanic flow of this extinct volcano, has a breathtaking ceiling — a vast dome that arches high above the heads of the weyrfolk that scurry around beneath it. A hollow echo can be heard from loud enough noises, and the chatterings of various firelizards are consequently multiplied into a chaotic babble. All in all, the living cavern is a loud place.
Tables are scattered around the room, apparently in no particular order. Over to one side near the kitchens, two medium sized serving tables are constantly spread with snacks, klah, and other goodies. The tables look worn, yet perfectly fitted to the atmosphere of the caverns. In the 'corners' of the cavern, smaller two and four place tables are set up for more private talks or just a less chaotic atmosphere in which to eat.

"That would be a good one, yes." Nimue says as she scribbles down some small prelim sketches for her statue. "Hrm.. yeah, I think we'll have to have more done, but yes, that's nice." She murmurs.

Lidia nods. "Any way you want me to dress?

"Whatever you feel comfortable in." Nimue says as she sketches out the general pose and the scribbles down the general figure and porportions. "It doesn't matter to me." She says, honestly.

Lidia nods. "Well, maybe we'd be able to do something a bit more arty. But we'd have to do studies in private, and I can't really stand for that.

Talmar is on break from chores for a little bit, hooray. He comes in from the kitchen, wiping his still wet hands off on his pants as he goes. He grabs something to eat, then looks around for somewhere to sit.

"How ever you wish." Nimue says to Lidia as she brushes the table off to clear it from the pieces from the carving. "And what do you mean?" She wonders, leaning over to hear Lidia closer. "That you can't stand for it?"

O'lief is here because he's getting 'dropped off' by Hil. Of course, all 'drop offs' must result in dinner after delievering the little ones up to nannies for the night. After all, how /else/ would one be able to try and convince their weyrmate to spend the night, or let them go back home with them? Not really sure of how far behind his weyrmate is, the greenrider comes slowly into the caverns and blinks owlishly around before sneaking right for the food tables. He's still just as gluttonous now as he was as a weyrling, so he piles up his plate before turning to go and find a table. Nevermind the other occupants. O'lief's really not paying attention, he's just waiting for Hil.

Hil wanders in with his coat hanging from one arm, he peers about the caverns and takes a few steps in. Eyes gaze up and the rider takes in the sight of the glittering dome over head. It never fails, like a moth to a flame. When a resident bumps onto him, he comes back to Pern and weaves his way through the passerby's to get to his mate. "I'll get us some drinks," he begins as he tosses his coat into a vacant seat and leans over to offer his greenie a quick peck in the cheek before facing the perils of the living caverns once more. Here's to hoping he doesn't spill on the way back.

Lidia giggles. "Well, I can't stand if I want to show it off in public, I mean." She looks around, her smile brightening as she notices Hil and O'lief enter, waving to her clutchmates. "Hil! 'lief! How are you two?"

Still not understanding what Lidia means, Nimue shrugs slighly as she looks up at the two riders coming in. A smile comes to her face when they show affection to each other before she turns back to Lidia when she speaks to them. "More people you know, then?" She wonders before she takes the small sketches of Lidia and tucks them away as well.

Talmar moves over to a random table, near the others. "H'lo." he says, to any who'll listen. "How's the food today?" he asks then, though he tucks into his own without waiting for an answer.

O'lief blushes just a bit when his weyrmate's lips come down on his cheek, and he leans back a little to call out after him, "I only got one plate, Hil!" He'll share though, but he does blink when he hears his name called and whips his head around to settle jade hues on Lidia. It takes him just a moment before he smiles meekly and offers her a timid wave. It would seem he's just as shy as he used to be as well. "Hey, Lidia. I haven't seen you in a long time.. How're things going for you?" And then both eyes stray to Nimue, who he studies for just a mere second before glancing over to Talmar. Yes, there's a wave for this man too, even if he isn't looking for one.

Hil makes it back safely to his seat in once piece and his tray is unscathed! He places it down before spotting Lidia and he smiles. "Hey Lids, long time no see! We really do need to catch up!" He pulls out a chair and before he sets himself down, he moves his jacket onto another seat. A tall glass of jiuce is passed to O'lief as well as some fresh rolls. Hil spots Talmar and he calls out, "How is your latest work coming?" Assuming it was the same as he seen last, but whose checking? While he settles, he pulls his plate closer to him before it vanishes and begins to shred the meat into a neat little pile while occasionly glancing over to O'lief. He is so cute when he eats.

Lidia grins, and waves again. "That we do, Hil. " She turns back to Nimue. "Well, I was thinking of posing nude, if you didn't mind. Tastefully, though. Not showing anything." She smiles at Talmar. "Greetings.

Nimue's cheeks flush and she nods at Lidia. "We could do that, of course." The young woman says before she looks towards the others. "My name is Nimue." She tells to O'lief and to Hil and then as well to Talmar. "I haven't had anything, so I don't know. Smells good."

Talmar grins through a mouthful of food. "Ish good." he manages between mouthfuls. He answers O'lief's wave with his own, then to Hil's question he responds, "The egg thing? Working on it. Up to the painting bit, but I need more practice." he admits, with a small frown.

O'lief does start shoveling that food into his mouth as soon as Hil sits down, ignoring the fact that his weyrmate keeps stealing the occassional glance in his direction. He works on swallowing down a mouthful though as Nimue introduces herself, and then he replies with a timid little, "I'm O'lief," and that's all he'll offer as he glances towards his weyrmate and then sneaks his fork over to stab a piece of the bronzerider's food and nibble on it. Leaning against Hil, he grins up at him through a full mouth, and then nudges him in his side before swallowing down his mouthful. "So, are you going to spend the night with me?"

"I dunno, you did steal food from me," Hil begins teasingly. He chuckles and turns to Talmar. "You're getting better and better everytime, keep it up. I can't wait to see them when they're finished." The older rider sighs and begins to tear open one of the rolls, shreds of meat being shoved within it before the plate is pushed aside and the roll nibbled upon. "Nimue is it? Pleasure to see another talented person emerging here at Fort. I'm Hil, Osraebukath's rider." He'll keep his position to himself for the time being. Hil reaches up and uses his mates head as an armrest!

Nimue nods at both the two men and she smiles at them. "Nice to meet you both." She grins at both of them. "Thank you. I'm just visiting though." She tells Hil. "So it's really not all that much for me to emerge here." She giggles.

O'lief makes a disgruntled little noise when his weyrmate's arm comes down on his head, and reaches out his free hand to wiggle his fingers beneath the bronzerider's arm. Ticklish spot, HA! "I love you, Hil, but I'm not an armrest," he murmurs with a bit of a grin, just before reaching out to catch Hil's arm by the wrist and tug his hand towards is mouth. He wants a bite of that roll, and so he steals one! He does blink back to Nimue though, smiling around a full mouth before nudging Hil in his side again.

Talmar grins and nods at Hil. "We got to touch the eggs the other day!" he says, excitedly. "It was … Different to anything I've ever seen. But it wasn't really seeing, exactly. It was … I'm not really sure what it was." he frowns, not sure how to explain it. To Lidia, Nemue and O'lief, he explains, "I'm making clay versions of the eggs, to give to the weyrlings after the hatching." with a grin. His craft is pottery, although, what with being a candidate now, he doesn't have as much time for it anymore.

Lidia nods. "I'd love to see them sometime, Talmar." She can't help but giggle at the other two riders. "I see you two haven't changed a bit." Then she turns back to Nimue. "I tell you what. Once I get a weyr and get settled in, I'll set up a time to pose for some studies for the statue. Does that sound good?

"The sooner the better." Nimue says to Lidia. "Like I said, I don't know how long I'll be here, and I do want to get it started at least before I leave." She murmurs. Her attention goes back to O'lief and Hil and she giggles before she turns to listen to Talmar. "Oh, really? That's neat!"

"Egg touching had to be the best part pre-hatching," Hil says as he flinches from his Lief assault! "Noticklingmeinpublic!" he quickly hisses through clenched teeth as he fends off his attacker. Once his roll is apprehended, he plays the nice mate and doesn't fight back. "Want me to put one together for you, sweets? Still have enough meat here." The rider just offers a wink to Lidia, yup, not too much of a change.

Talmar frowns slightly at Lidia, then nods. "They're not very good yet." he warns, adding, "I've got a lot to learn." but he runs out to the bowl, returning shortly with a box of clay eggs. There are at least a dozen plain eggs, and another dozen painted clumsily in an attempt to make them look like the ones on the sands. He pulls a few from the box, offering them to all four people to have a hold and a closer look. "I thought it would be interesting to do. I didn't expect to be searched when I decided to do it, but I'll find the time somehow."

Lidia smiles. "oh, they're very pretty. Just keep practicing when you can, and they'll be wonderful."

O'lief just shakes his head at the offer and then leans forward to steal a kiss from the bronzerider. Yep, and then those lips go to Hil's ears so he can whisper something just before ducking behind his hand with a snicker. He goes right back to busying himself with his food even, avoiding eye contact tactfully by looking over towards Lidia and Nemue again. He'll just watch them for now, and let his mate ponder—if that's what Hil decides to do. Oh, and look! He's offered something to look at. He does look them over, and then grin. "They're very good," he murmurs, before shooting a glance back to his weyrmate with a little blush. Talking to people, eek!

"I like them." Nimue tells Talmar before she looks down at the one in her hand. "Hmm, lemme see here… oh." She moves over to Talmar. "When you want to blend colors.." She points to a part of the egg. "Take a bit of the one color and mix it with the other and blend it across." She tells him.

Hil leans back after doing a little whispering of his own and finishes off his plate. He leans back in his seat and watches O'lief for a moment before listening to the advice Nimue gives to the pottering candidate. After pondering, he nods. Makes sense. Zan stretches and skitters over from his sleeping spot by the hearth and flops right back down infront of the older rider. Look! Fuzzy footrest. Zan just wags his tail and leans over just enough to slurp up a stray morsel. Silly dog.

Talmar nods at Lidia, then says "I'm spending every spare moment on them." before smiling at O'lief, sheepishly. "Not good enough." he says, before nodding to Nimue, paying close attention to her words. "I see." he says thoughtfully, nodding at the eggs. "My area is more the making from clay than the painting." he admits.

"You can do it." Nimue offers to Talmar. "Just have some faith in yourself." She giggles softly before she turns back and sits down on the table near Lidia once more. "This place is busy." She offers, her eyes flicking around.

O'lief grins just a little at his weyrmate and then leans over to place a kiss on his cheek. Yep, he's finished with his food. In fact, he downs the last bit of it with some juice before getting out of his seat. "I'm going to be heading out, you comin'?" Before waiting for an answer, he turns around to look at Lidia and then waves just slightly. "Bye Lidia. It was really nice seeing you again." And to Nemue: "It was nice meeting you," and he even turns to Talmar. "And you too. Thanks for showing me your work. It really is really nice.." And then he blushes all kinds of red and shuffles for the door, looking at Hil from over his shoulder.

Lidia grins at 'Lief and Hil. "Expect to see a lot more of me. I'm hoping to come back." She turns once more to Talmar. "Well, if you impress, you'll have a lot less time, trust me." Turning her attention back to Nimue, she grins. "So, maybe in the next few days?

Nimue looks towards Lief and Hil. "Take care!" She tells the weyrmated couple. "It was nice to meet you." She looks to Lidia and she nods. "That should do it, then." She offers. "That way I can get my things together."

Hil nods as he rises to his seat and quickly scampers through the crowds to drop off his dishes. When he reemerges and passes the table, Zan is forgotten and the Eastern Weyrleader is sent right down onto the floor face first. Hil just sighs heavily and lifts himself just enough to stare at the pooch. "You're supposed to be with me not against me," he mutters as he gets his face slobbered on by the pooch. "Zan! Stop it! Would you quit it! Come on! Move over!

Talmar frowns slightly at the clay eggs, and nods at Lidia's comment about impressing and free time. "I figured as much. But, can't I go back to my craft after graduation? You know, if I impress?" Big if there. O'lief gets a wave, and the boy turns to his own food once more, with an appetite to rival O'lief's. Well, Tal is a growing boy. "I mean, not many riders as young as me." Well, none, actually. Only weyrlings, if any. "So, maybe I won't even impress? Cause of my age?" He's twelve.

Lidia shakes her head. "Oh, age won't have anything to do with it. One of Fort's bronzeriders was only twelve when he impressed.

O'lief just comes to a standstill, eyes going to his weyrmate so that he can duck behind his hand and stifle some laughter. Slowly, the greenrider moves back over to him and then crouches down. Does he offer any help? Nope! Because he's too busy trying to fight down his laughter. "Enjoying the floor, love?" he inquires, just before dissolving into chuckles again, and straightening himself out so that he can hold out his hand. "Need some help up?"

"Don't know." Nim says before she stands and brushes herself off. "Don't know that much 'bout dragons.." She murmurs before she looks at Lidia. "I've got to go over to another Weyr to get the supplies. They have the best things. I'll be back later in the day."

Lidia nods. "Do you need a ride?"

Nimue shakes her head. "Nah, you stay here. Get a Weyr." She offers. "It'll be easier for me, my friend is still here." She waves. "Nice to meet you both." She waves once again.

Talmar frowns slightly, glancing at the clay eggs. "Hmm. Well, I'm sure I'll figure something out." he says to Lidia, though he doesn't sound all that certain. Somehow, who knows how, Tal missed Hil's fall. But O'lief's chuckling pulls his attention that way, and he frowns. "Are you alright, sir?" he asks, looking in that direction.

Lidia nods, and waves to Nimue. "Hurry back.

"Yeah, I'm just peachy. I'll see you around Talmar," Hil begins while grasping O'lief's hand and rising to his feet. He clears his throat and snatches his jacket off the chair to pull it on. "Good to see more of you Lidia, maybe we can catch up later. Got to get home and rest while I can. Hope you settle in alright." Zan just sits there like any cute innocent pooch and howls, "Arruuu!"

O'lief laughs a little, shaking his head before hooking his arm around Hil's waist and leaning his head against his shoulder. Yes, and he'll just drag his lovely little weyrmate off for the night. Farewell, Fort people!

Lidia stands, streching, and carefully cradling Jeddia. "Unfortunately, I have to go see if I can find a weyr to stay in until I get my old one back

Lidia says "It was nice to meet you."

Talmar nods and stands. "I've got chores and stuff." he says, with a small grimace. "It was nice meeting you."
