Fort Weyr - Nursery
Where do Fort's littl'uns go? To the nursery, of course! Whether they're here for sleeping, for learning or for playing, the facility is large enough to cater to all the Weyr's children, and staffed by a small army of nannies.

There are several sections to the nursery: one part, curtained off from the rest of the room, is clearly for sleeping - it's filled with cribs and cots for the littlest ones, and bunkbeds at the back for the older children who aren't quite ready yet to move into the main dorms. Another part is the Harper area, where desks and chairs can be rearranged as needed, either in a classroom format or more casually for storytimes, instrument learning and so on. And then there's the very best bit - the play area! Filled with all sorts of fun things, from painting areas through to water troughs with toys and Pernese playdough, this is the best place to be… unless it's tidy-up time, of course.

Where's Thys been all day? Gone! Or at least not in her usual spots - like the archives or the stores. And yet Rhenesath's presence, either on her ledge, on the Hatching cavern ledges or elsewhere in the Weyr, depending on the time of day, is a clear sign that Fort's youngest goldrider is still around somewhere. A little bit of sleuthing, however, will reveal that there are indeed a group of Weyrworkers who know exactly where the junior is: in the nursery, of all places. And there she is, in the play section, sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of an easel, helping a toddler to paint. D'aaaw.

Ralik does his sleuthing more out of idle curiosity than having to know where Thys is at any given moment. The man decided to try and look her up for a bit of lunch and has since then been wandering around, asking mostly the people who work here because, well, he tends to feel more on par with them. When he hears she's in the nursery, there is a long moment of consdieration before he bites the bullet and heads down. He'll linger near the door, peering in to see if he can find her only to exhale roughly at the sight of her painting with a toddler. It is cute and he is afraid. Moving away from the door, he crouches down near the pair and offers the toddler a smile before looking to Thys, "Hey. Taking some art classes?"

"Ralik!" A totally unexpected yet happy surprise of a Ralik! Thys beams up at him, curling her arm around the little boy and hugging him to her. What does he do? He turns to splodge his paintbrush on her cheek, giggling madly at the blue splotch it leaves there. "Oh! Oh, Theyon, no, no! You paint here… not on me!" And yet Thys is giggling too despite her gentle chiding and directing the paintbrush back to the paper. Then she disentangles herself, pushing up to her feet to give her man a quick kiss on his cheek. "Did you need me, Ral?" Out she reaches for his hand, giving him a gentle tug over towards the sleeping section… and the cots. With all the snoozy babies in them.

Ralik lifts a hand to put his thumb on that blue spot, amusement clear on his face as it leaves a light thumbprint. Heh. He is easy enough to drag over after returning the kiss lightly, looking down towards the snoozing babies with absentminded curiosity, "Nothing big. I was heading for lunch and thought you might want to grab something to eat. What've you been up to today? Hanging out here?" So far, no big deal for him. Ralik's the oldest of three, if not possibly more, so babies and small children don't bother him.

Thys pulls him over to a cot, then looks over to a nanny for permission to pick up the little tot sleeping inside it. "Hanging out in here," she confirms in a hushed voice as she reaches in to scoop up the baby, holding it tight to her so she can rest her cheek gently on its head. Then she sighs, so happily, shifting herself around so she can lean up against Ralik, looking gushily up to him as she coos, "Aren't they all just adorable? Don't you want them all for yourself?"

Ralik looks down at the poor baby being stolen aside for Thys's moment of gushing, lifting his hands to rest them lightly on her shoulders as he quirks another amused look and says, "They are adorable, but I'm pretty sure the Weyr would get upset if we ran off with all their babies, luv." He reaches down to pat the baby lightly on the curve of its head, giving it a bit of a stroke in a way that used to calm down his siblings before he returns his hand to her shoulder.

"You called me love. Luv? Love." Thys is a little surprised, repeating the word in the same tone Ralik used, but ultimately she's glowingly pleased about it! Her cheeks blush as she cuddles the little tot to her, and she leans more havily against the glasscrafter. "Of course there's another solution to stealing the Weyr's babies… we could just make our own?" Up she blinks at him, lashes fluttering over her dark eyes.

Ralik has a pretty good idea what's happening at this point, even if he jumped to conclusions once before. He looks down at her while she repeats that affectionate word so excitedly, laughing at the suggestion that they simply make their own. He looks down at the baby, then at Thys before he tweaks her nose lightly, "It certainly never hurts to try, does it? I can't imagine you mean to make our own right here and now, of course… and I was rather hoping to have lunch first."

Thys blinks up at him. "Dear Faranth, Ralik, of course not here and now. There are children!" She settles the baby back into its cot, then reaches out to tweak at the collar of Ralik's shirt, before smoothing out invisible wrinkles in the front of it and then licking at her thumb to wipe what may have been a smear from his cheek. "Plenty of time for that later," she coos, her nose wrinkling as she smiles at him. "But you really ought to get something in your tummy," which she rubs, "first. Is there anything special you want?"

Ralik suffers the entire routine of motherly perceived dirt removal without flinching, laughing lightly at her strong assertion that they couldn't do it THERE, "I know, I know, I was just teasing." He rests a hand lightly on her side and tries not to start laughing again when she rubs his stomach like that, clearing his throat quietly instead, "Yes, I imagine so. Ah… special? No, not really. I was just going to see what they had in the living caverns, you know, nothing unusual. Did you want to come with or would you rather hang about here some more?"

"Nonononono." Thys holds up her hand, shaking her head. "No, no, you're going to have something special. I'm going to make you whatever you want, or… or I'll have the kitchens make it, or we could even go to - to… wherever it is that makes whatever you want to eat. I have a dragon. We can go anywhere you want. Where would you like to go?" She settles her hands on Ralik's waist lightly, so that she can spin him around and start to march him out of the nursery… though not without being distracted by little people along the way!
