Fort Weyr - Bathing Cavern
A high, domed ceiling stretches far overhead, voices echoing in the distance. Warm, moist air fills the room, coming from the variety of pools scattered about. Vines have been planted in baskets and grow up the walls, thriving in the soft artificial light provided by glows placed at random intervals about the room.

It might seem a bit silly to be taking a bath while it's raining outside, but rain water doesn't make for the best bath. The morning is still early, a candlemark after dawn, and Ezra soaks in one of the tubs. Already clean, the teen looks to be just soaking, relaxing and enjoying the quiet.

Xavier comes walking in covered in a mix of mud and sawdust. A soft whistle coming from him as he quickly strips down and hops in a tub, taking a bit of soapsand and giving himself a good scrub before plunging under the water. Surfacing a moment later his hair sticking to him a soft sigh escapes as he relaxes into the bath.

Ezra opens his eyes when another approaches, frowning for a second before he recognizes Xavier from the dance. "Hey," the heir says, lifting a hand to wave before it slips back beneath the waters once more. "What was your morning like?" A small grin at the mud and sawdust.

Xavier smiles and nods at the heir."Hi, it's alright so far, just had to deal with a bit of sawing and well kinda got caught out in the rain out near the pens. So the ground got muddy and I slipped. As for the rest well the dust just stuck once I was muddy." He laughed at the state of his clothes.

Ezra chuckles, shaking his head. "Sounds like the world is conspiring to make you dirty, today," he teases, watching the other man for a few moments before his gaze drops down to the water once again. "Are you a woodcrafter?"

Xavier chuckles at the joke. "Yeah, must be." Hearing the man ask if he was a crafter he shook his head. "No, I'm not. I'm just a simple handyman with a few tricks I've learned from a few members of different crafts. Though, my friend Solan is a woodcrafter."

Ezra nods, "Yeah, I've met Solan. He seems like a good guy," he says, watching the other closely for a moment. Then he smiles a bit. "Tricks like how to not fall in the mud?"

Xavier sinks a bit into the water scrubbing his hair out. "No, don't think I've met a crafter yet who could teach me how to avoid gravity." He turned to look at Ezra, "Wait, aren't you the heir to that place…. Stonehaven right?"

Ezra laughs. "That'd be a trick though, wouldn't it? Never falling ever again? I'd pay for that ability." Pale green eyes flick to Xavier, the teen's posture stiffening slightly at the mention of his home hold. "I am," he says quietly. "Why?"

Xavier shrugs noticing the other man put off guard. "I'm just wondering, that's all, no need to worry." After all what did he have to worry about from a handyman. "You seem like good people, you and your brother."

Ezra worries about a lot from a lot of people, especially when his hold is brought up. "Oh." That takes him a bit by surprise. "Thanks. We are." Not bragging, just a quiet fact. They are! "It needs a lot of work…"

Xavier nods his head making a humming sound for a moment. "Yeah, I'd imagine so. Not to worry, I'm sure everything will work out. It usually does as far as I'm aware. I mean it's not like people aren't working on it."

Ezra frowns a bit. "What do you mean? No one's working on it right now. Not…not until I start getting people to work on it. Right now it's still…" flinch, "empty and closed up and locked."

Xavier sits up a bit, turning to look at Ezra. "You mean you don't have anyone at all helping you getting it up and running again yet?" He gives a slight shake of his head. "Get on it man. It's your birthright you should be proud of it and making sure it's the way it belongs."

Ezra sits up a bit more, stiffening defensively. "Do you know anything about Stonehaven?" he snaps, irritated. "I just got it, my brother just gave it to me after he was missing for turns!" Anger rising, the youngest Stonehaven brother clenches his fists but tries to keep a grip on himself. Maybe Xavier doesn't know the whole story…

Xavier sees that the other man is pretty upset. "Sorry, I guess I shouldn't of brought it up, if I had known." Clearly Xavier out of the loop. He leans back in his tub, taking a deep breath before speaking again. "I'm sorry alright?"

Ezra shifts, getting a grip on himself as he watches the other man. He opens his mouth and then closes it, and then takes a slow breath before he speaks again. "Do you want to know?"

Xavier thinks for a moment before nodding his head, "I suppose it would be a good idea to know. I mean I must have missed some of it. So what better source then the heir himself."

Ezra exhales softly. "Well…how long has it been, now. When I was…ten, I think…we woke up in the night to find that our cothold was being…attacked." It's hard for the teen to say, but he takes a slow breath and continues, each word chosen, carefully measured, and offered. "It was winter, and a man named Laris and his band wanted our supplies. So they attacked. They…killed my entire family," the boy says, lifting his chin.

Xavier exhales sharply understanding this is something very serious and that it must be hard for Ezra to talk about. "You know what, if you don't want to talk about it you don't have to." He ran his fingers along his jaw in thought.

Ezra shakes his head. "No, no. It's good that I…I learn to talk about it. People have to know what happened, and not everyone knows anymore. It's been…a few turns and so people…forget. Or they don't know." He does pause for a moment though, before he continues. "Turns out my brother and my sister escaped, but were in with Laris' group. Rayathess kept our little sister safe for turns, pretending to blend in…I of course thought they were dead, and I was here. I found a few friends, I thought I was heir but I never made it official. It was too painful. And then when Rayathess got back…" There's an exhale and a smile. "Well, I had some of my family back. He's the oldest, he's heir by default. Until he decided he didn't want it." For a lot of reasons. "So he gave it to me."

Xavier whistles sharply, "Wow, so your brother joined up with the group that did that? What ever happened to your sister?" His face was painted with an expression of curiousity.

Ezra narrows his eyes, his voice sharp. "NO. He didn't. He absolutely did not." Poor Xavier. It's such a touchy topic. "He was trapped there. He had to pretend, in order to protect himself and our little sister. He never did anything bad. And she's here, at the weyr. She's…trying to live a normal life. We're trying to keep things calm and stable for her."

Xavier raises a brow at Ezra at his denial of his brother being part of the group. He knew the man must not have liked it but he assumed that it must have been one of those grey zone kinda things. "I see, well glad to hear your trying to keep it together for her."

Ezra nods, settling a bit back into the water. "We are. So…that's why Stonehaven is empty right now. I'm waiting for everything to be official, and then…I'll start finding people to work it."

Xavier nods his head finally seeing the whole picture. "I see, well I wish you the best with that, I'm sure it will be a long time rebuilding."

Ezra exhales softly, pushing himself slowly out of the water. "It will be. But it will be worth it," the boy says quietly.

Xavier nods his head, the mud and sawdust clear of the man now and he's just relaxing in the water. "Well, I'm glad I got to know the story. I'm sorry to hear about all the bad in your life, but think of the good as well."

Ezra chuckles softly and nods as he grabs a towel, roughly rubbing himself down before pulling on his clothes. "That's the only thing keeping me going," he says wryly.

Xavier nods his head, "Well I hope you have a good day, I'll most likely spend the next little while soaking a bit more. At least the water here is nice and warm. Not to mention it doesn't have mud to fall into." The man laughs giving a small grin to Ezra.

Ezra laughs as he gathers up his things. "That's true enough. See you around, Xavier." Then a wave, and he's gone.

Xavier nods as he sinks deeper into the tub and his own thoughts. "See you around Ezra."
