Fort Weyr - Training Complex
The remnants of a historic collapse are apparent here, as the slope face of the bowl has a predominant downward curvature. It's likely long ago, that a cavern larger than any Fort currently has was where the training complex currently is. A probable cave in triggered a fissure on the bowl wall which lead to a great chunk of it dislodging, thus creating the rounded slope.

Yet, many centuries later, all that remains to give evidence is the pocket made into the bowl wall. It seems that the inhabitants of Fort Weyr have made best of the created space. Rock on the ground proper has long since cleared, but pebbles and loose shale are constantly underfoot. Still, the sprig of some green leafed vegetation isn't too out of the ordinary in these parts, as long as it doesn't get trampled by the comings and goings.

It's clear that this area has been designated for the training of young minds, whether human or dragon. Surrounded by rock on all side, it's like a personal weyr bowl for the youngsters to minimize distraction and danger. The candidate barracks have been built across from the Weyrling barracks, so that one group can educate the next. Finally, placed in the centre of the two entrances of the opposing barracks, near the rock face, is a statue with a memorial plaque.

Rukbat has barely risen above the horizon, and yet the day has already begun for at least one weyrling pair. Thys and Rhenesath are out in the training ground in the early dawn light, getting in some PT time. The young gold is stretching her legs in an awkward trot of sorts, while Thys runs alongside her. They pull up just in front of the entrance to the barracks, Thys puffing, Rhenesath cluck-crooing in encouragement to her red-faced lifemate. There's no rest yet, though, as once she's caught her breath Thys leads her dragon in the series of stretches that the weyrlingmasters have showed them all, wing-flares and all.

« Rhenesath! » The joyous melody of Kainaeysth's reed flute dances out from the barracks before the bronze trots his way from the barracks, large wings trailing behing him. « Look! It doesn't hurt! » Showing off for the little gold Kainaesyth flairs his wings outwards, casting shadows in the bright sunlight. Surely Ha'ze will be here in just a moment.

C'rus and Jaicoureth make their way slowly out of the barracks and take in the new morning and all its new possibilites. The dragon quickly glancing up to the sky, alas no stars during the day. It seems some of the others are out and about this morning bright and early as well. Rhen and Thys and Kai, no Ha'ze yet, but to be somewhere right? "So do you want to do a walk or a run first or would you like to stretch your wings?" he asks. «Wings please.» responds the dragon. So the pair walk side by side, the rider keeping a hand on his neck out to where a young one can safely stretch and feel the wind.

« Kainaesyth. » Rhenesath's flames flicker with what's close to maternal concern over her brother, a soothing wave of healing heat rolling over her grassy mountainside mind. « You're better? Or you have numbweed? » She stretches out her own wings to their fullest, showing off their paler underside before tucking them in again and dropping her forequarters for a feline-like stretch, accompanied by a very satisfied yawn. Thys is doing stretches of her own, which she continues as she looks at the little bronze. "Where's your Ha'ze, Kainaesyth?" C'rus and Jaicoureth's emergence from the barracks is met with a smile and a cheery, "Morning, boys!" Rhenesath greets Jaicoureth with a gentle sweep of her mind's presence against his, nothing too intrusive. She's learning!

The joyous melody swings across that meadow, breezes picking up some of the heat from the cayon and adding them to the play. « Healed. See? » "DON'T YOU DARE." Before Kainaesyth has a chance to do a small leap into the air with those open wings of his Ha'ze stalks into the training complex from the far side, with a shovel over his shoulder. His voice is very much a shout.

«Hello.» Jaicoureth responds back to Rhen. Largely keeping himself to just a word here and there. Not sharing much of what his full voice can sound like, but it is a start. You have to learn how to build those relationships somehow. The bronze does catch his attention though. It had really been quite the to do with the little lake trip. «It is good that it does not hurt.» he adds. Jaicoureth then begins by slowly stretching his wings open just getting them ready to flare outward. You have to train if you want to fly. And boy does he want to fly. C'rus watches Kai arrive, and he seems to be no worse for wear, "He seems to be doing ok Ha'ze." He smiles over to Amy, "Hello. How are you doing this morning?"

Ha'ze's hollering makes Thys wince, looking from the approaching weyrling to his dragon. « Gently, » Rhenesath encourages, stretching her own wings out slowly to show Kainaesyth what she means. « You don't want to hurt yourself again, do you? » She wuffles warm breath at the bronze, then towards his noisy rider. "Shards, Ha'ze, good morning to you too… it's a bit early to be yelling, isn't it?" Thys drops her arms from her overhead stretch, running her fingers through her short hair before slipping her hands into the pockets of her workout pants. To C'rus, she gives a smile and an easy shrug. "Good, Cy. We're good. All klah'd up and ready to go, I guess… Rhen had us awake half the night with an itchy spot that just wouldn't go away."

"Until he figures out that he can't over stretch those rags of his then no, it isn't too early to be yelling." Hi grumpy Ha'ze. Kainaesyth doesn't seem to mind the yelling though, as he brings those wings in against him and almost dances over to where Ha'ze is taking that shovel. Upwards the melody sings, weaving around both Rhenesayth and Jaicoureth as it dances. « I wish to go out agian. »

C'rus can't help but frown a bit when Ha'ze shouts at Kai. He can certainly understand the worry but if he was that harsh with Jaicoureth it hurt the blue so much, but it isn't really his place to critique someone else. At least that is what Jaicoureth would say in the comfort of the private communication between the two of them. «I wish to go up.» the dragon says to his brother flicking his head skyward for a moment as he continues to practice his wing flares. C'rus nods his head to Amy, "Yeah….I know how that goes. Though generally once Jaicoureth is out. He's out." Which is so wonderful, "Of course he usually takes me with him when he goes." Ha'ze gets a passing glance, "You don't think getting hurt was punishment enough?" he asks gently, "I mean they made it all the way to the lake. Shows how strong they are."

"Alright, Ha'ze, I get it, you don't want him to hurt himself… but wouldn't it be easier to watch him more, so you can keep an eye on him while he still needs it?" Thys leans in against Rhenesath's foreleg, curling her arm around her lifemate's limb. She nods in agreement with C'rus, looking from blue- to bronze weyrling. "Cy's right; they made it that far, so Kainaesyth's clearly strong, and smart enough to do it… maybe he just needs you to keep a closer eye on him, to keep him in line a little more." Rhenesath looks skywards, projecting an image of imagined flight for her brothers' sake. « We'll fly and capture the wishes for ourselves! » See all the stars studding the daylight of her mind? They're all scooped up and presented to Jaicoureth, since she knows how much he likes them.

"How Kainaesyth and I get on is none of your business Thys." Ha'ze's tone is blunt as he shoves that shovel under a pile of small dragon poop. Lifting it up, he begins to walk away with it… to whereever that mail said it goes. Kainiaesyth trails along behind, flairing his wings in exercise, and allowing the slight breeze to make the thin hide ripple.

Jaicoureth remains silent throughout the exchange between everyone, his mind more than a little occupied with thinking about being 'out there'. There is so much to see and do, though the other side always pulls him back to C'rus. He turns his head as he does flare after flare, «Yes. We will.» he says to the gold, and does not pull away when she presents him with the stars. Some day he'll be more comfortable sharing more of himself, but for now just recieving is enough, "Ha'ze. We are all in this together. It is a team effort."

The reaction from Ha'ze has Thys looking side-on at C'rus, as she bites her lip uncertainly. She nods her head when the bluerider chimes in with his response, dark eyes shifting from him back to the other weyrling. "Ha'ze, I'm only trying to help. Both of you. You just… I dunno. It seems I see Kainaesyth without you a lot. But maybe it's none of my business." Thys strokes her hand against her lifemate's foreleg, looking back at C'rus to see what he thinks.

A rather abrupt snort from Ha'ze. (What happened to the quiet teen from before impression?) "No. This is Kainaesyth and I. The rest of you just happen to be around." Good thing M'icha isn't around. Ha'ze might end up with more punishment work. "And you think that if I mother over him like the rest of you that it'll somehow help him grow up better?" Yeah…. that's sarcasm.

C'rus rather objects to the notion that he is 'mothering' anyone. He is 'fathering'. There is an important difference. Jaicoureth pauses and looks over to C'rus «He sounds upset.» The rider nods his head in response and glances over to Thys who seems to have the same train of thought that he has had, "Ha'ze. We are all family now." The dragons are all brothers and sisters and so…

"Yes, Ha'ze, I think it'll help you both grow together better." Thys steps away from Rhenesath, and the gold drops her head as the beginnings of that whiny keen she has start to rise. "Please excuse us; you're upsetting Rhenesath. Cy, see you at training." A hand on her lifemate's nose and a frowning look quiets the gold before the keen gets too loud, then Thys leads her dragon back into the barracks.

Ha'ze just rolls his eyes in the general direction of the gold rider, and dumps the contents of his shovel where it belongs. "You have to eat today Kainaesyth, let's go to it." C'rus's remark about family? Utterly ignored. UTTERLY. No, he and Kainaesyth, who with that dancing flute doesn't seem at all upset by Ha'ze's grumpy, move over to another corner of the complex and settle in to do just that.

C'rus is apparently just meant to be alone on the grounds this morning. He says nothing further to Ha'ze. It wouldn't really help anyway. He turns his attention back to his lifemate and will put his energy and time there. Jaicoureth continues to do his wing flairs, strengthening all those muscles. Soon he'll walk around the grounds with him, and maybe take him back out to the bowl since he seemed to like that so much.
