Fort Weyr - Training Complex
The remnants of a historic collapse are apparent here, as the slope face of the bowl has a predominant downward curvature. It's likely long ago, that a cavern larger than any Fort currently has was where the training complex currently is. A probable cave in triggered a fissure on the bowl wall which lead to a great chunk of it dislodging, thus creating the rounded slope.
Yet, many centuries later, all that remains to give evidence is the pocket made into the bowl wall. It seems that the inhabitants of Fort Weyr have made best of the created space. Rock on the ground proper has long since cleared, but pebbles and loose shale are constantly underfoot. Still, the sprig of some green leafed vegetation isn't too out of the ordinary in these parts, as long as it doesn't get trampled by the comings and goings.
It's clear that this area has been designated for the training of young minds, whether human or dragon. Surrounded by rock on all side, it's like a personal weyr bowl for the youngsters to minimize distraction and danger. The candidate barracks have been built across from the Weyrling barracks, so that one group can educate the next. Finally, placed in the centre of the two entrances of the opposing barracks, near the rock face, is a statue with a memorial plaque.

Warm winds and cool breezes have been alternating back and forth, each one bringing with them the sweet scent of forests in the distance and worlds to explore. Though not too terribly late in day, it is late enough that one blue dragon has been fed and oiled and is actually tired of sleeping it off. In fact if he's feeling tired at all, it's of the oppressive feeling that's starting to weigh down on him. Instead, the scents of the wind have drawn him out and following instinct he's slipped out before Sk'ler has even noticed. But when he does "Ciesoeth!" comes and almost panicked cry and the boy is running out after him.

C'rus and Jaicoureth had eaten, then had napped, then as they had said that they might began to make their way outside. They poke thier head out of the doorway in unison and look to the right and to the left in perfect harmony, "We will go outside now." «We will go outside now.» they state together before walking in complete synch out of the barracks and into the training grounds. After getting a little way outside of the door they pause, in unison…of course, "There is another here." «There is another here.» they state as they cautiously slink toward Sk'ler.

Kainaesyth has kept the recalcitrant Ha'ze busy today, and every spec of green has been lovingly repotted, and now lines the edge of their cot. "You be dirty, just be holdin' still while I be gettin' this dirt off. You ain't sleepin' with me if you ain't clean." Hazelon's voice is firm as he dresses down the baby before him. As Ciesoeth escapes from the barracks Ha'ze lifts his gaze up and shakes his head. "It ain't like he's gonna get broke comin' outside." Shaking his head he looks down again at Kai, who standing still, sends out a melody of greeting to his blue bothers.

Sk'ler lets out a sigh of relief though when he does come upon Ciesoveth who has found himself a nice spot to settle down. He blows a breath a warm air throuh Sk'ler's hair. "It's not that I think he'll get broke." he says a bit defensively and then leans into Ciesoveth "It's just that he was there and then he wasn't there." He looks over toward C'rus and then grins at his blue a moment and then says "Ciesoveth says he wants to know how long you two are gonna be each other. Though he finds it curious on what you're doing." There's a pause "Why are you doing it. Sounds kinda creepy." he notes and then there's a look at Kainaesyth "What has he been doing?"

C'rus and Jaicoureth continue to just creep along, "This is the outside." they affirm together before both shifting to look at Sk'ler and Ciesoveth, "We are not creepy." «We are not creepy.» is the reply that is given. Could it be that they simply don't have an answer? "There is no need to fear us." «There is no need to fear us.» they state as kindly and genuinely as possible. Though that probably comes off as creepy too. Uncanny is never a good thing to be. At the greeting from the Bronze they turn and annouce rather solmenly "Today we learned that the raw meat goes in the blue mouth and the cooked meat goes in the pink mouth." «Today we learned that the raw meat goes in the blue mouth and the cooked meat goes in the pink mouth.» There's today's newsflash.

"We ain't afraid've you." Ha'ze lets out, not even bothering to look at the kid. "It's just creepy like the kid said." A slight brush towards Sk'ler. Kainaesyth uses this break in washing to wander over to the twin speakers. He twines aroud them, looking from all angles. « You are not one. » His voice is thick with post storm humidity, a weight upon the mind though clear of all dust. « Your stories are interlocked, not the same. » There is disapproval in his heavy voice.

Ciesoveth wanders over towards the 'siamese mind twins' and whuffles «Curious indeed.» He goes to slip his head between the two and then he warbles and dashes down away from them « Come Jaicoureth! Let us play instead! » There's a bit of a stumble though and a bit of a grumble about his feet. "Cyrus, I mean C'rus. You're being weird." He snorts a little and then can't help but grin "At least you're not eating the raw meat though. That'd be gross."
C'rus and Jaicoureth aren't exactly swayed and shake their heads to show that they disagree, "We are one." they say. Though they do feel the weight of the disapproval from the bronze and a look of confusion crosses both their faces, "Do not be cross with us." «Do not be cross with us.» they say backing away from him slightly. Civesoveth's call goes largely unanswered due to the intimidating bronze standing there.

Kainaesyth doesn't mean to be intimidating. But this lack of seeking their own story distresses him, and so he presses. « Do you not wish to write your own stories? To feel the wind of your own own breath weaving the intricacies of life as you live it. To be tied, yes,» A brief tendril of love is curled backwards towards the stoic teen. « But also to be free. If you twine together history will forget you are two, and remember only the one. Shall you forsake your story to such? Come, » Swift rising winds break across the canyon, picking up dust along its path till nothing but the wall of wind and dust can be seen rolling forward with out a way for it to be blocked. In the center is the deep drum-boom of Kainaesyth's voice, calling and entreating, « Be yourself! Write your own story! » "Kai, stop it." Ha'ze's voice cuts through the rising fury of the dust storm as the teen comes closer and lays a hand upon the dusty bronze head. "If they be choosin' to be weird, that be their choice. Common back to your bath." It's hard to steer a dragonet that big away, but Ha'ze does just that, as Kai cranes his head backwards, gaze firmly on the twined mind.

It just so happens that after Kainaesyth and Ha'ze finish talking about having your own story that a gust of wind whips through the training grounds. Its precisely at that moment something rather unexpected happens. A gust of wind blows through the training grounds and as Jaicoureth senses its arrival he opens his wings, and C'rus does not open his arms. The first non-syncronized movement that they have had all day. This relatively minor thing causes a certain ripple through their 'mind'. Both dragon and man sort of glaze over for a moment. Then something happens. The mind energy of a dragon asserts itself. The jinggling of bells and swirls of color reach out and touch those minds nearby, «My dear boy…» Jaicoureth begins «…has a complex» "….complex mind…taking a bit longer to work itself out…" Cyrus continues picking up where the dragon left off. The both just stand there motionless as the energy and noise build up around them.

Kainaesyth is not satisfied with this small step, and the life giving rain pours in his mind as he attempts to wipe away the thought of the aberration of what his young mind considers only the natural order. Ha'ze bends, reaching out to make sure Kai is looking at him. "You be walkin' your path and never mind them." This is met with rejection, total and complete. « Our stories are interlocked, » The rain falls only harder, as rivulets begin to carve their way across the stone faces of the canyon, wearing away at the loose dirt. « I cannot not mind. »

Jaicoureth shakes his head just a bit as he makes every effort to come back into his own frame of mind. The sound of jingling and the whirl of colors, and the sparkling of gems radiates outward to continue to touch all minds that are able to recieve it, «My dear boy, hang on. This is going to be a bit of a shock to both of us..» he speaks clearly in his rich and powerful baritone melody, «Here we go.» The noise reaches something of a fever pitch and when that happens both dragon and rider sort of take one step away from each other. C'rus for his part gasps and closes his eyes for a moment and then opens them again, "Okay….that was…" he says moving once again to his dragon's side to put a hand there to make sure he is real, "Not sure what happened there…" Jai for his part also shudders but then looks up when the rider places his hand on his side, «We needed a bit of time I think to restart.» is the dragon's only explaination.

The rain slows, then finally comes to a halt. Left behind is the scent of desert washed clear, with every imperfection cleansed away. Coolness washes across where violence only recently spread. Flowers spread their delicate petals as if to welcome the sunlight back. « You will like writing your own stories. » A hint of smugness. « And I will tell them. » Ha'ze just rolls his eyes. "Can I be gettin' you clean now?" Assent is given with a slight trill of wooden flute.

«Well…we will be doing it together.» says to Kai but primarily to C'rus. The pallette of colors shifts to more muted tones, the soft shades of the evening with stars floating lazily over head «My dear boy don't worry. Have no concern at all. I love you and we will be together always.» the dragon feels the need to reaffirm. «We will support each other and never force…only love.» After all the dragon knows all the words that C'rus needs to hear and certainly will not be shy of speaking them, "I was afraid, but I'm not anymore." he says as he lowers himself to reach around the young dragon, "You are always safe here with me. I won't let a thing ever harm you." C'rus sadly forgets about Ha'ze and the bronze there. Rather wrapped up in his lifemate. Jai accepts the affection readily and moves to put himself between Ha'ze and Kai, both possessive and protective of his fragile lifemate. He does though reach a thought out to only Kai with a soft and melodious touch, «Brother. You mustn't push my dear boy. He has been so afraid. He needs only love. Not judgement.» There is no sting in his words, only exposition.

A storm is raising again, objection to that statment that he had judged. Before it can build though, another thought is breaking in. "Just leave it be Kai." Ha'ze shakes his head as he uses the water in the bucket to wash away the signs of Kainaesyth's budding gardening skills. "If they be wantin' to be weird, just be lettin' them." More words then he has spoken around C'rus even throughout candidacy. The storm breaks, the winds slipping away as Kainaesyth draws himself back to a state of calm. "I be knowin' a story. Not a good one, but a story. Common and I'll be tellin' you." This breaks Kainaesyth's focus on the blue completly and all of his attention shifts to Ha'ze. Not even a single gentle zepyr is left to the blue. "There once was a man…. what was needin' a runner. So he asked his brother for one. And… his brother gave it. The end." AS bad as the story is, Kai's reception of it is warm, his lilting flute singing praises high above the flower speckled ground. « It is perfect! A story! I bet I could make it better. Perhaps…. Long ago there was a man. A man who needed a runner. He needed to save his Forever. His brother gave him a runner. He saved his forever! That is a story, it is glorious!»

C'rus has been stung by remarks about his 'weirdness' all his life, but in this moment there is only him and Jaicoureth. The dragon envelopes him in a warm wave of love that radiates outward from him and into the mind of his lifemate, «Pay no heed to anything but me. We /are/ safe here. You and me. They will keep us safe.» he says making some oblique reference to the other dragons he knows instinctively are nearby. «You are loved. You are loved. Hear that and feel that. You can be yourself with me. No need to hide anymore.» C'rus for his part quickly relaxes as his dragon speaks to him both in words and in the warm embraze of his mind. A few tears form in his eyes. Lest Jaicoureth let C'rus turn into a pile of good in front of someone else the dragon noses him gently «Come let us listen to the story.» Jai still keeps himself between Ha'ze and Kai. Not intending on letting anyone get to close, even if they are a brother.

But alas, even the most resolute of storytellers must fade. As is the tendency of the young, what was high energy suddenly fades into exhaustion. Night casts its deep shadows as strong wings droop abruptly to the training ground. "Kai!" For the first time Ha'ze is animated as he drops to his knees to catch that drooping head before it falls to the ground, concern ringing in his voice. Kainaesyth's song is the quietest of trills now, single staccato notes like the hops of a desert frog. « There once was a dragon named Kainaesyth. And he was very tired…» Some of the worry drain's from Ha'ze's shoulders, as he supports the flagging strength of the bronze. "Then be comin' along." Without even a glance to Jaicoureth and C'rus Ha'ze will lead Kainaesyth into the barracks and to the blissful oblivion of sleep for Kai, and restless wakefulness for Ha'ze as the quieting of the youngling's mind leaves only endless room for him to face his dilemma.
