Fort Weyr - Shenanigan's Lounge
The natural walls of this cavern haven been completely covered and replaced by straight and sometimes curving walls of brickwork. There's method to the madness of covering stone with stone. It's as simple as the electric buzz in the room. New grade electric lights dot the fancy brick worked walls, with wires cleverly hidden behind, allowing more focus to be centered on the rest of the room rather than the numerous strings of wire needed to operate the lighting. Each bulb roosts in a bronzed metal flowering fixture, giving the room a rich atmosphere. Still, the walls are not the only place which has stone on stone appeal. The floor has been run smooth, the surface now slate rock, creating an imperial cast.
Beyond the actual foundations of the lounge, the luxury continues. High backed wooden chairs with padded white seats have been stationed all around the room. Between the individual chairs are benches fashioned out of the same rich wood with pillows made to flatter the cushions. There are low lying coffee tables or end tables near the individual chairs, while there's larger dinning room sized tables with chairs to match scattered as well, giving much variety to those who find themselves in the room. Decorative hangings and framed artwork has been neatly hung around the room, but to offset the meticulous method of the room, there's some pieces that give a sporty feeling to the room - such as a fishing rod or a snow shoe.
Of course, the final appeal of the room comes in the form of it's purpose; athletic competition. There are several games of darts lining the walls, various decks of dragon poker cards available, a large velvet lined pool table centered to one side of the lounge, a mat area surrounded by ropes, and an area that keeps track of all the runner races around the world via radio signal, giving constant updates on the status of the runners. Lastly, there's a bar here, small and built with brick as well. There's usually a bartender on duty willing to mix drinks during the evening hours.

Winter has settled in and the Weyr has seen its first blizzards. In one of those blizzards, Kayeth decided to rise and was caught once again by Velokraeth. Now there is no more proddy Weyrwoman and the Weyr is secure in having Th'ero as Weyrleader once again. Is he celebrating? Nope. Never has and likely never will. He just went about his business once all was said and done. His being here in Shenanigan's is mostly pleasure, not business. Occasionally Th'ero enjoys a drink or two in the lounge, sitting in his usual spot near the back and lost to his thoughts or quietly watching others as they go about their business.

Abigail has been busy as of late, winter is like that for Thunderbird wing though. Yet right now she is making her way on into the lounge and is sending a slight glance around as she moves on towards the bar. Drinks are good, and something she hasn't had a lot of lately, though with two young children that shouldn't be hard to understand. She undoes her jacket, gloves already tucked into her jacket while she waves over the bartender for said drink.

Th'ero is nursing a mug of his favourite ale as well and it's over the rim of it that he spots Abigail entering the lounge. "Wingleader!" he calls without truly raising his voice to gain her attention, he'll follow up with a 'join me' sort of gesture of his hand if she happens to look his way.
Abigail glances upwards slightly as she catches the voice calling out for her she assumes. A nod is seen once she does see Th'ero, with drink in hand she moves on towards where he is. "Weyrleader, how are ye?" This questioned, a faint smile seen as she setles upon a chair. Then she is ispping at her drink, well a rather long sip don't mind her!

Th'ero won't judge if Abigail decides to chug her drink. He's had days like that and days where he's just forgone the mug and taken the bottle or skin. "I'm doing well enough, now that Kayeth has flown." He can breath a sigh of relief, mainly because Nyalle will now be back to herself. "And how're you? Aside from busy." He'll know just how busy she's been, given the reports on his office desk!

"I think we can all offer up a bit of relief in thta regard." Abigail says with an amused tone. Niumdreoth of course chased, damn brown likes to do that to her. She stil blames the brown's dear sire for everything with that idea. "Been alright, just tired honestly." This said softly at the thought and she even rubs across her eyes a moment. "All well with ye sir?"

Th'ero grimaces and gives her a knowing look. "Niumdreoth chased too, didn't he? He's got courage and heart, he does." Maybe Abigail has other words she'd put to her dragon but the Weyrleader is being polite — and yes, she should totally lay blame on Velokraeth. "Aren't we all? Even with winter slowing a few things down, it seems we're ever on the go. No rest for the wicked, as I've heard some say." Chuckling dryly, he'll lean back in his chair and shrug. "All is as well as it can be. Suppose you haven't heard about the lack of fish in the stores?"

Abigail smirks a touch at that question and ehs softly. "Aye… Course he did. Damn brown has won two gold flights, it went to his head it did." Not that he doesn't chase greens stil, especially certain greens over others. "I swear he should have been a bronze somedays." Somewhere Niumdreoth is amused by that thought. She chuckles a bit at the comment. "Aye that is true sir, better then it being to quiet perhaps." She hums softly while sipping at her drink once more. "I heard something about it in passing. Though I must admit I didn't look to far for it. Is there a reason behind it that we know?"

"Can't blame him for being a hot-blooded male," Th'ero drawls but smirks as well, "But I know and sympathize with you." If there's one rider who knows how it is to endure flight after flight… it's the Weyrleader. Velokraeth's appetites have not waned in the Turns. He shakes his head, "No reason behind it yet, no. Bad weather is what we're hearing which isn't unusual. Winter storms on sea can be nasty and more of a loss than a gain. I bet we'll be restocked soon though." Oh, if he only knew! "But I can assure you it wasn't my doing."

Abigail chuckles softly and shrugs a moment. "This is true." She offers softly at the idea. "I don't blame him at all just worry he'll do something stupid." This said with a smirk. She hums softly at that andsoon nods. "Well I do suppose the cold weather would have something to do with it. Hopefully nothing to serious."

Th'ero quirks a brow, "Stupid as in… injure himself? Or win you Weyrleader?" he muses. Wouldn't that be a fiasco? He'll raise his glass, almost like a toast. "We can only hope." he murmurs and drains the last of his ale. There's a moment of silence and then quietly, he goes on to ask: "Have you seen Ha'ze of late?"

Abigail pauses a moment at that look. "Well.. Seeing how he nearly fell out of the sky once I was meaning kill himself." She saiys with a faint smirk and a slight wave of her hand. "Ye are more fitted for that seat sir in all ways of course. I'd make a giant mess out of it." That should help.. Right? There is a slight pause as to the question of Ha'ze and she takes in a soft breath. "Not lately no.. His being distant with me." WHich is something she has gotten use to honestly over the turns. "Has something else happened…?" She is almost worried to ask that.

Th'ero grimaces and coughs. Oh right, he almost forgot of that ill fated flight. Velokraeth can be partially blamed for that too, couldn't he? "Thanks Abigail and well… don't count yourself out? Weyrleader is half about making mistakes and learning from them. Just a matter of which mistakes you make." Or how bad they are and Th'ero's record is not perfect. The Weyrleader blinks and then frowns, "Is he usually distant with you? And… I'm not sure if something has happened, per say. This was prior to Kainaesyth and Rhenesath's eggs hatching. Could be the winter is affecting him too but Kimmila and I had to have a talk with him concerning Kyzen and…" He shakes his head.

Abigail looks a bit amused at the thought of her being Weyrleader. "Perhaps… Aye that is very true sir." She makes her own mistakes being a Wingleader after all, she's learned a good amount since taking on that job. At the rest a soft breath escapes her. "At times he can he. Ha'ze will speak with me more then most I do admit but I try not to push the matter as he doesn't always respond well to such things." She has learned that. The relationship the pair has is a bit of a strange one really, but it does work for them. As for the rest she looks to Th'ero, quietly while sipping at her drink. "Winter does indeed affect him more then I wish." Or others for that matter. "What… Happened wth Kyzen?"

Th'ero sighs softly, "Something I've learned the hard way concerning Ha'ze is no tot push him." Yet it seems almost impossible NOT too. The Weyrleader can only let so much slide. Some piece of the puzzle does click though and he gives Abigail a curious look, "So the season seems to affect him as much as it does Kainaesyth?" Interesting tidbit! Concerning his son though, Th'ero's mood turns grim. "Turns out he's being bullied by some of the older weyrbrats. You know how children are. Only this one boy doesn't seem to want to quit on harassing him and Kyzen misunderstood some advice given to him and tried to fight back…" It didn't go well.

Abigail curiously watches Th'ero as she listens for a few moments, she frowns a bit and a soft breath escapes her. "Ha'ze means well.. Honestly." Though it doesn't always seem that way to people. What does she see in him? Who knows really. "Is Kyzen alright?" She hasn't heard of him being hurt, or perhaps she did and didn't fully let it sink in at the time. "What happened with Ha'ze then…?" A slight nod is seen. "It can at times affect him, more then he'll admit but I've seen it with him."

Th'ero nods his head slowly and doesn't argue with Abigail concerning Ha'ze's well meaning. The Weyrleader suspects there's a lot more to the bronzerider than he ever lets show and that the brownrider may have glimpsed that but it's not his business to pry too far and especially not like this. "Kyzen's fine. He got roughed up a bit but hopefully learned his lesson. As for Ha'ze, well… he was the one who sort of indirectly encouraged it. As you said, he may have meant well but the boy is eight and he took it all literally. So our talk with Ha'ze didn't… exactly go well."

Abigail nods slightly at this and a soft sigh escapes her. "I see where that might be a problem." Knowing Ha'ze she has no idea what was or was not said. "I hope Kyzen will be alright, hopefully it won't happen again.. I wonder why they keep picking on him.." There is a slight pause and she smirks a touch. "Though I suppose being a Weyrleader's son would mean people go about poking at him more so than some."

Th'ero's smirk says it all, "You have it right there. That's what Kyzen told us. That his boy and his followers harass and tease him because he is my son. I've spoken with the Headwoman and Steward about it though there's little any of us can do. Children are children and they'll always get into mischief or skirmishes. Kyzen is fine, he just needs to learn how to cope… and not turn to violence. Not that I want him defenceless but I had hoped to avoid teaching him certain skills until he was at least ten…" He shakes his head and exhales. "How are your little ones doing?" he asks softly.

"Sometimes kids react differently of course. I suppose to Ha'ze when he was Kyzen's age he had to deal with things differently of course." Abigail offers for a reason as to why this could have happened the way it did. "Indeed kids will be kids. I hope it won't happen again and thathe'll be alright." There is a slight pause and a soft breath escapes herbefore she is smirking. "I hate to drink and run but seems Niumdreoth is callng for for some help with an itch." Demanding dragons! "If there is any need to speak with Ha'ze on the matter again.. Let me know? Maybe I can help." Its a thought. She offers a nod and smiles while she is up and moving off. "Have a good afternoon sir."
