A glossy cerulean from nose to tail spade, this adorable blue seems to shine with his own inner glow. Short and thick is his muzzle, expanding into a wide, somewhat squarish head from which a huge pair of bright eyes dominates. Thin azure headknobs rise like antennae, hovering above round, bulbous eyeridges that ascribe a sense of wide-eyed wonder to his sweet face. Compared to his cranium, the rest of his smallish body seems out of proportion. His lean neck is a sapphire thread that spreads into a steely blue chest and svelte torso. Vivid teal stains each oblong neckridge, drizzling in electric streaks to pool upon rounded shoulder joints. Wiry wings spread like twin summer skies, marred only by slender contrails of icy flax, sweeping across their thin sails. Powerful haunches, thick with muscle, seem a bit overdeveloped but not overly bulky as they taper into the graceful navy hued sweep of his tail. Touches of silver sparkle like mica within the deep granite of his talons, adding a bit of extra shine to this lustrous creature.

Egg Name and Description

Eyes on the Dawn Egg
Long striations of white encroach upon the dominant greens of this hardening egg. Foggy tendrils stretch like steam from this verdant jungle floor, curling irregularly across leaves of emerald and jade, threading through branches of russet and chestnut and swirling in a faded fairy ring around a spot of red-orange on the ovoid's tip. Peeking out from a shadowy emerald swathed hiding place, a bay-brown animal's head is clearly discernible. Somewhat canine in appearance, its elongated muzzle and rounded jaw adds an oddly equine look as well. Its onyx gaze seems fixed on the fiery ball ascending over the hazing sky. Three more half-hidden, hunched forms, in dark shades of burnt sienna, suggest this beast is only one of several concealed in the brush.

Hatching Message

The life within the Eyes on the Dawn Egg is tired of rocking and spinning. It wants out! It wants out now!!! Somewhere inside the hardened shell, the creature inside pushes at its weakening prison until *PLONK* a pair of egg wet back legs emerges from it. Another hard shove and out pops a head, neck and forelegs from the other end. There is a long moment as the newly born creature eyes its shell encased torso, planning its next move. I'm gonna roll around on the sand now!!! And so it does, creeling and churring in what sounds like pleasure as it leaves shattered egg remnants in its whirling path. Ah, /that's/ better. With nothing left to hold it back, Gleaming Illusions and Ravings Blue Hatchling leaps exuberantly forward with an enthusiastic warble. Weehoohoohoo!!!

Impression Message

With a suddenness that takes your breath away, the heat of the sands and all the noise and chaos about you disappears, replaced by a cool, blanket of verdant jungle leaves and swiftly rippling lines of glowing green. A moment later a tiny bud forms in the center of your mind opening into a vibrant red-orange bloom. « Hellooo Lidia! » calls a high pitched, slightly squeaky voice. « Zsihaventh found yoou!!! Finding you was fuuun!!! » Another rustling of the leaves and lines follows, touching you with a sense of definite glee. « So what do we do next?! How about cupcakes?? I like cupcakes…I think. Can we have some??? Ooooh, what about that red drippy stuff the others are having?? That looks goooood!!! »

Personality

This shy little mind is the mental equivalent of a mouse scampering quietly inside a wall. Colorwise, I see it in a myriad of greens, rustling leaf shapes with maybe a touch of brown and dark grey to give the effect of bark and twigs. The colors, however, are a smoke screen for the frightened, secretive thought behind it. First approaches from a touch always bring extreme caution and the barest rustle of the 'leaves'. As it grows bolder and more curious, the sensation of movement and scratching sounds become stronger, but never does anyone get a look at what hides behind the 'curtain'.

Growing Up: From the moment Zsihaventh finds you on the sands, he will be an energetic thrill-ride of screaming, near maddening joy. Only complete exhaustion will keep him down and only for the handful of hours slumber can keep him captive. Bounding into instant wakefulness, each new day will find him out of the barracks like a shot from a gun, poking his muzzle into everything and, more often than not, getting into trouble only you can pull him out of. « What does /that/ thing dooo?!» and «Oooh, look…fuuun!» are delighted exclamations you will soon learn to dread, a warning sign that your very exuberant dragonette is about to dive into something he probably shouldn't.

No amount of scolding will keep Zsihaventh from his insatiably curious explorations and many (including you) may even find it impossible to stay mad him for long. This blue exudes cuteness from his pores like sweat and, with a gentle nuzzle of his nose and a drop-jawed draconic grin, human anger inexplicably evaporates. Teaching him caution and common sense by example rather than repremand is recommended. Doing so will make you more aware of your own surroundings, leading to less clumsiness on your part if you choose to take this route. Taking a proactive approach to discover answers to his constant queries will also save you both a lot of grief, though it will ultimately mean more social interaction than your bookish instincts will like. However, all will agree that meeting new people while your lifemate listens in, is ultimately much safer than extracting a dragon who has gotten his haunches stuck in the living cavern doorway trying to get inside. It won't be easy to get him to buckle down and curtail his enthusiastic fun fest, but his love for you guarantees he will try his utmost to please.

Once past weyrlinghood, don't think for a second you'll be able to relax. Yes, Zsihaventh will have matured beyond peering into a watchwher's lair to see what's inside, but he will never quite loose his endlessly vivacious, fun-fun-fun nature. He'll never shirk his duties but he may try to spice it up by inventing games to make jobs more entertaining. Such sports are a laugh riot for your partner but they may not be appreciated much by your wingleader. "Will he /ever/ grow up?" is a question you'll hear often unless you keep his frolicking in check.

Remember always that Zsihaventh's love for you is the key to his composure. Sure, it's a blast to kamikaze dive into the center bowl before pulling up at the last possible second. Weee! Fun!!! However, at a well-spoken, "Let's do that a little later, when I'm /not/ strapped to you," will more often than not get a cheery, « Oh…Okay! » from him and his own limited recall will do the rest.

Mating flights can be one of the best ways for your lifemate to really cut loose and party as he feels he was meant to. It may also be safer for all involved…well, relatively so. He'll chase any female regardless of color if he senses she is close to rising and don't be surprised if you find yourself giggling as his excitement infects you. In Zsihaventh's mind, it's not about winning, it's about plunging head over tail through the sky in a rip-roaring roller coaster of total sensory enjoyment, shouting « Weeehoohoohoo! » until the ride comes to an end. Whether he catches or not, his insistence that you enjoy yourself will be overpowering. « Whooo, let's do it again!! *blinks* Hey, why is that rider next to you so sad…and cuuute!!! *hint hint nudge* » You may even look forward to his losses where your low sense of self worth is overshadowed by his complete confidence in such situations.

OOC: I see Zsihaventh as that adorable little trouble maker who charms you with a smile and a hug even while he's got half of your best china shattered at his feet. He's bubbly. He's exuberant. He loves life and you. He's gonna squeeze every drop of happiness from this wonderful planet and serve it fresh for the both of you to savor. Now, if he happens to wreak havoc as he does so… ;) I've tried to capture GIR's well-meaning insanity without eclipsing Eohippus's gentle, nurturing and curious nature. These are just a few suggestions as to how to develop him. Ultimately he is yours to enjoy. What qualities evolve and how they manifest is up to you. May he inspire you in RP as much as he inspired me during his creation.

Why: As Zsihaventh became conscious within the darkness of his shell, all he could think of was seeking an escape from it. The small space wasn't /any/ fun at all, you see…and there was no food…or piggies. Then these 'others' began to visit, opening up his perceptions for short periods of time. Now /this/ was definitely more like it, but while entertaining, it was frightening too. Who /were/ these 'human' things? Why did they keep coming? And why didn't they bring cupcakes? Then you touched his egg and it all made sense. You had the patience to stay and explain the visualizations he received from you. You helped him understand the experience, and the nurturing nature he sensed in your mind fit his equally adoring, loving yet flighty personality like two matched puzzle pieces. « You /liked/ me, Lidia. Even when I was scared, you liked me. And I liked you better than aaaaanybody else…even if you didn't seem to have any fun. But that's okay, we'll /both/ have fun now. Together! Oooh, what does /that/ thing do?!? » *bonk crash* « Uh…oh »

Mindvoice

Verdant Rustling of Electric Dreams
Zsihaventh's mindtouch is a union of whispering foliage and electronic hiss-clicks in dominant shades of deep green. Think a combination of shivering jungle leaves and the streaming lines of code seen in "The Matrix". The somewhat high-pitched voice embedded within is filled with joy and indomitable humor, often bouncing from one side of your senses to another in a playful hide-and-seek sort of way. This unusual mixture may seem intimidating, even threatening at first, especially to those he chooses to bespeak if he deems to toy with their brains in a similar way. Yet no matter how much amusement he gains from confusing and jesting with you, an underlying sense of complete, unconditional love can always be sensed as small bloom of red-orange, like a vivid sun in the center of your consciousness.

Inspiration

The shell from which Zsihaventh emerges was inspired by the prehistoric creature Eohippus or "dawn horse". His early mind personality was also based on this ancient animal. First discovered in 1838 by an English bricklayer, the piece of jaw and two small teeth of Eohippus was at first believed to be that of an ancient monkey. A second jaw with a full set of teeth was disinterred from another site a few months later and that early theory was discarded. A complete skeleton was finally found by scientists in 1867 while excavating rock structures in the southern United States. The dog-sized, five-toed mammal lived about 50 to 60 million years ago during the early Eocene period. Its color probably resembled that of a deer, a darker background with lighter spots that helped it to blend into the shadows of its jungle home and hide from predators as it browsed on fruit and soft foliage.

Zsihaventh's final personality and quirks are inspired by GIR, the oddly-functioning, "advanced", not-so-standard issue information retrieval unit henchman on the cartoon show "Invader Zim". Built on the fly by the Almighty Tallest from various bits of trash, GIR was given to the inept alien Zim instead of a SIR unit. Zim was then sent, GIR in tow, on a "secret mission" to destroy a planet so secret, so terrifying, no one else knew where it was. Can you say, "we want you out of the way before you blow up our home planet"? I knew you could.

The name Zsihaventh is derived from envahisseur, the French word for invader. I wanted the name to have a meaning and, as you requested, make it interesting and exotic sounding so I dropped the eur and spelled it backwards. On a whim, I also replaced the first S with a Z as a final homage GIR's original green-skinned master of DOOM! In my mind, the name is pronounced Jhee-hay-venth with a soft jh sound (like Zsa Zsa Gabor), but if you prefer, a straight Zee sound is another option. I hope it's to your liking.
